As you know, I use stencils frequently in my quilts. I used a child’s stencil for the Snow Crystal Quilt HERE and I used a stencil to stitch my Shamrock quilt last March. See the Shamrocks HERE. (The Shamrock Quilt is actually the Geranium Stencil #SCL-513.16.5)
Whenever I use a stencil, I “lori-ize” it by adding a lot of extra quilting. See The Red Flower Quilt HERE
Today, The Stencil Company is offering readers of The Inbox Jaunt five chances (Yes–five chances) to win my two favorite stencils–The Grid Stencils: SCL-461.00 and SCL -457-10
I use these stencils frequently to mark straight lines and grids.
In order to win one of the five sets…(and to keep you moving on your Quilt Notebooks–read more HERE)…tell me where you are from and how many UFOs (quilts only) you have counted so far…
The Giveaway will close on Sunday evening and winners will be announced on Wednesday. Winners will be chosen at random (no extra credit for high numbers of UFOs! ) NOTE–Due to the high cost of shipping–this is a US-only Giveaway–However, I would LOVE to hear from YOU about your UFOs even if you are not eligible to win…
Good luck and Happy Stitching!

I’m from Round Hill, VA and I have 8 UFO’s awaiting quilting. Normally, when I start a quilt, I finish the top before starting another one. I do one BOM a year and several charity quilts also, but the charity quilts are finished all the way through before starting another! those stencils would help greatly to complete a lot of UFO’s. 🙂

Hi, Lori! Thanks for the giveaway chance. 😀 I’m from Colorado, near the Air Force Academy north of Colorado Springs, and I have 20 old UFOs (started at 49) and EIGHTY-FOUR kits/fabric sets that I am on a mission to finish. I’ve started about 12 of those. It’s gonna happen – you watch!!

Hi! I’m from beautiful Morro Bay, California. I have 3 WIP’s. I tend not to have many because I like to finish one before starting another one. Thanks for the chance to win a stencil!

Hi, I’m in chilly New England (northeastern US) where quilting some ufos is keeping me warm 🙂 Last count, I was at 6 and am working to get it down to none 😉
Thanks to you and the Stencil Co. for this terrific giveaway opportunity!

Checking in from your neighbor to the west: Sioux Falls SD 🙂 UFOs range from Thimbleberries’ Vintage Stitches to a variety of table toppers and runners. (and my RV quilt with the embroidered Great Lakes lighthouses… Will it EVER be done???) All totaled, nine projects (that I can locate…) but I’m not counting the project cases with pattern & fabric just waiting…

oops forgot to say I was from Tomball Texas outside of Houston Texas… I’m not going to even give a number I would hate to embarrass myself. I am a good starter but not a good finisher. But I would love to win the stencils they may give me a reason to finish something and use them 🙂 Thanks for doing the giveaway!!!

I am in southern California. I have dozens of UFO’s I guess, if you count many, many blocks I made in year 2000. I am slowly making quilts out of those blocks and also have several other quilts in various stages of progress. I would love to win these and would definitely use them! Thanks for the chance

Oh Lori I have been viewing tutorials on how to use stencils like these. I really want to use them. Thanks for giving me an opportunity to win them. I’m from Mansfield, PA but wintering in FL. As far as UFO’s, I’m guessing probably about 10. Planning (hoping)on completing them this year!

Hi Lori, I’m from near Dayton, OH, and I have 7 completed quilt tops that need to be sandwiched & quilted. As for UFO’s, I have so many quilt projects started that I could not find all of them in order to count. Becky

Hi Lori. I am from Newbury, MA but now live in Naples, FL for the seven cold months. I have counted only seven UFOs so far BUT then when I look at my stash I have several “sets” of fabric that are intended for a particular quilt. You see I have an addiction and that is to fabric. I just can’t seem to stop buying it!
Gwen
I have 7!

I have recently moved to VA & joined a wonderful quilt guild. I have 2 of my own tops to quilt but the guild does charity quilts and there are many that must be done. This tool would be great!

I’m from Bronston, Ky on beauriful Lake Cumberland. I don’t have any ufo’s to piece but I have 8 to quilt. I bought a HQ Sweet 16 a couple of years ago and I have been steadily falling behind since then. I certainly completed quilts faster when I was “quilting with my checkbook.” I love your blog and your tutorials have been immensely helpful. Thank you so much for sharing your ideas and love of quilting.

I’m from North Idaho. I have about 45 quilt tops to quilt, as well as numerous in-progress quilts. I love piecing but generally put off the quilting part. This year my goal is to quilt one of my tops every week so that stack of tops will be a stack of quilts (gifts!) by Christmas. I quilt free hand but your stencil idea is interesting, I’ll have to try that.

Hello, I am from Arizona and fairly new to quilting but I have 4 tops ready for quilting. I am to scared to try quilting something other then stitch in the ditch. I have tried some of your tutorials but not very good at it yet. Thank you for all you do.

I’m from Massillon, OH and I have 2+ tubs of UFO’s – that is including the “tops” that need to be quilted (that is in my 2014 New Years Resolution to get DONE!) – I’m such a newbee at domestic machine FMQ that these stencils would be a blessing! – thanks for the opportunity! Thank you so much for all of your instruction and tutorials!

I am originally from Spain, but have lived in several east coast states in my 30+ years in the US. Believe it or not I have only one UFO. Good thing you didn’t ask how many projects I have the fabric for but have not started yet! That’s a totally different story.

Current list has 37! It’s CCCCCCOLD here in South Dakota!
Aleeda
I’m from Maplewood, NJ, and I have 28 UFOs. For each new piece I start, I have to finish or give away a UFO.
Angela
I’m from the space coast of Florida and before the start of the new year I made a list and counted 18. One is already done though, so I’m down to 17.

Hello! I’m from Columbia, Missouri. I’ve only been quilting a few years. For the last 2 years I’ve been focusing on whittling down those UFOs (instead of starting new projects!) and am down to 3 – 1 of which just needs binding, and another just needs and outer border quilted + binding. I’m getting there! Naturally, I have fabrics for my next couple of projects prewashed, pressed, and waiting patiently for me.

Hi Lori, your FMQ tutorials inspire me to be brave and try some new things! I’m currently working on a wedding quilt for my daughter and that is one UFO for sure! It needs to be finished by June! Thanks for all your lovely ideas.

Hi Lori…stationed in VA now and I have way more than I should (15+)…moving every couple of years does not help. They get packed neatly in a box for the next location and then I start something new. I am so happy I found your site and I feel more confident that I can get out of the ditch and try something more decorative. Thank you.
Jean Probasco Garces
I look forward to reading your blog each day, and really like the ideas you put forth for FMQ. I have 5 UFO’s to finish up. One only needs a binding, and four need to be sandwiched and quilted on my DSM. I could certainly use the stencils!
Bev Gilby
I am in central Florida (good weather) and I have 8 ufo : ( please send me a stencil!
Dolores Kastello
Love your idea for a quilt notebook. However, now I know I have 11 bed size tops that need to be quilted, but I am having trouble deciding how to do that. Basic stencils would be so helpful. UFO’s —I haven’t listed them in my QB yet.
Thank you Lori for keeping me on task. Dolores from Waukesha WI

Sunny Colorado here. Go Broncos! 4 or 5 quilt UFOs. Or as I prefer PHDs. Too many weaving and spinning PHDs to admit……
Susan
I am from Western Lower Michigan. I have 2 crib size quilts and 1 wall hanging quilt to be finished. I have several more that haven’t been started, but I have all the necessary fabrics and supplies bundled together ready to go.
Linda
What a great give-away. I really want to learn to quilt better and seeing how you have used this stencil is inspiring. I’m from Bakersfield, Calif. Right this minute we are having a dust storm. Yuk. I have 4 quilt tops that need to be quilted. 2 quilts that I’m still piecing and I have stopped working on them so that I can work on the baby quilt for my daughter (Due in Feb!).

G’day, from hot and very hot Australia, though in the winter in Melbourne where I live, we can get very cool winters, I know they are not very cold because I grew up in England. As for quilts, I have been making and quilting quilts since 2009, my birthday challenge when I turned 60! I have 4 UFO’s one of which is on the way to being finished, one is waiting until I am confident to quilt around the embroidery, one is waiting for inspiritation and the other has been put on hold until I finish the others. Not too bad really considering I finished and gave away 8 quilts and two bags last year, it would seem that if the quilt has a special home to go to then I finish it ahead of any projects for my own home. So… my resolution should be to finish off projects for my house this year.

Hi!! I live in Maine on the Coast where winter has dealt us a blow this year. Before retirement lived in Virginia. I have 7 tops needing to be sandwiched and quilted plus at least 3 UFO’s. Love to make the tops but really need to finish them so they are really a quilt. I think stencils would really help! Dianne

Still in cutting and border stages (1). Plus a quilt to be appliquéd. Tablecloth to be sewn out of holiday panel and coordinating fabrics. And a toy dino for grandson. Do these count? Four UFO’s. Not bad if I say so myself. ;}

Brrr. I’m from central Ohio. I have been quilting 38 years. I have only about 6 UFO’s. I would be thrilled to win the stencils.

Hi, I’m from CA, but grew up in Japan. I have been quilting for less than one year. I finished two quilts so far and one UFO. Your quilting tutorials are very helpful. Thank you for the chance to win a stencil.

Hi, I’m from central Missouri in a rural area on the Lake of the Ozarks. I have 21 UFO’s. I definitely need to start quilting these tops I have stacked up around here. Wished I had your talent. Thanks for the chance to win a stencil.

Hi there, Lori,
I’m from Minnesota (at least for the past 33 years.) I grew up in Wisconsin, which I still consider home. My UFOs have been piling up since I started quilting in 1998. So far I’ve found 5, not counting the blocks from classes taken at Quilt Expo in Madison. In fact, most of my UFOs were started in classes at Bear Patch.
Thanks for the chance to win these great stencils.
farmquilter
I have counted 40 quilt tops that I need to quilt! They are finished tops, need backing made and get put on the frame. This would be an awesome stencil to win!! Thank you for the opportunity.

After intently searching thru my project laid aside (blocks), I have discovered that I have 4 UFO’s to complete. Two of these are block sets that I have won thru my local quilt guild. Hope you are staying warm….it’s pretty darn cold in Pennsylvania and right now we are having snow showers again!
Nicole
I’m in Victoria, BC (but I’ve lived all over Canada and in Washington, DC) AND I’d pay for shipping if I won. Right now I’ve got 6 UFOs but I am actively working on two of those right now. So four that are stalled/mothballed. And a million ideas for other quilts…….
Tammie Wallace
Hi, I’m from Salt Lake City, Utah. I am fairly new to quilting so I only have 3 UFO’s. Thanks for the chance to win the stencils!

Hi Lori, from the northern part of New Zealand 🙂 I am heartened to know there are other readers with over 20 UFOs… to be honest I am loathe to count them all but I know I have at least that, including some tops that are waiting for the quilting process 🙂 Whew! Thank you for the chance to enter the giveaway!
miss601
Picayune, Ms. I have about 10 UFOs. Not all are quilts. Some are wall hangings and one is a quilt that I am originating different designs for each block. If I am lucky maybe I can bring it to market.

Hi Lori, I am from Brighton Mi, It si very cold and sunny today! A year ago I was bragging that I finish all my quilts before I moved to another. That is no longer true as I have taken workshops, classes and started things( icall it playing)I most confess to at least ^ projects that I do intend to finish and another 3 that I have completely lost interest in,at least for the moment!
