The BERNINA Ruler Foot is Here!

November 23, 2016

rulerfoot-fmq-lorikennedy002

G00d Morning, Quilters!

Minnesota is expecting a big snow storm, so off I went to stock up….

No….I don’t need milk or bread….

I went to my LQS (local quilt shop)  Bear Patch Quilting in White Bear Lake, Minnesota.

I know YOU can relate!

HOLIDAY SPECIALS

Some BERNINA dealers are offering specials this month like:

All Presser feet –25% off!!  (Consider MY FAVORITE  for machine quilting, the #24 foot!)

And sewing machine carrying cases are 50% off!!!

rulerfoot-fmq-lorikennedy004

Great news!  The Ruler Foot #72 and rulers for our domestic machines are in stores!

Here’s a great video on getting started with ruler foot.

LIMITED SUPPLIES

Each dealer has a limited supply.  If you can’t find one, put your name on the waiting list.

Also, the #72 foot is available for many models, but not all–so give your dealer a call.

I can’t wait to get to my playroom…

Oh, I forgot…there’s that turkey…and a tablecloth to iron…

Shhh….I won’t tell if you won’t!

I’m so excited! Seems I have been waiting so long for these, ever since I saw tutorial showing the Westerlee.

Any suggestions where to purchase rulers and what would be good starting ones? I have a single straight one that I purchased at a quilt show.

Ruler work is totally new to me. I purchased the set that BERNINA is selling and plan to see what I can do with that before venturing out. The straight ruler is going to be my favorite I think.

    Hi, Lori!
Big question: With all the current Bernina specials, I’m considering one! Which do you recommend? 779? 830? 880? I’d like to embroider also + FMQ.

    (I have Juki2010, Janome 6600, Janome mc9000, Featherweight, & Bernina serger.)

Just can’t decide & dealer is 1.5 hours away & was not very helpful.

    Any ideas much appreciated!

    Tia, Carol Williams

I LOVE the 7 series. I would go with the 7 series that had embroidery. I prefer the bobbin system in the 7 series.

I would go for either the 790 or 880 because you get a free Koala cabinet right now. If you don’t have a need for the cabinet (not sure why you wouldn’t but…) then maybe the 765 Rose Gold or 770 and get the free embroidery unit. You won’t have as many editing capabilities on either of those as you would on the 790 or 880, plus they both do lots more, but depending upon price also. I would definitely get from a dealer that you like and trust, it’s very important, even if a little farther away.

Thank you Roxanne. What is tour dealership name and address? We would love to have it!!!

I had money left in my budget, and went to a quilt store closing sale. Of course I overspent! Two days later my Bernina store announced they finally had the ruler! I can’t wait for Bernina Club next week focusing on the ruler, and it will be my next purchase.

I ordered a foot at my LQS over a week ago. They said that they had only received one foot from Bernina and already had 4 on back order. Hopefully it’ll arrive soon!

I have so much fun quilting with rulers! I have a Janome, so I’ve been doing it a little while. I can’t wait to see what you come up with, Lori.

Can you use it with BSR? (I have tried FMQ without BSR with foot #9 but it did work as well.
Also, can anyone explain the difference between #9 and #24?

I dont know about the BSR and the ruler foot. I will research that more.
The 9 foot is similar to 24 foot. But the 24 foot is open in front-better visibility- The 9 foot is nice too and better when you are FMQ around applique–it doesnt get caught in the applique.
