St. Patrick’s Day Quilting

March 3, 2016

AQ Magazine, Shamrocks, FMQ, Lori Kennedy

Good Morning, Quilters!

I’ve been off to a late start every day this week because I am working on a BIG PROJECT!

More on that next week….exciting!!!

I’m also excited about the March issue of American Quilter Magazine!  As you know, for more than two years, I have written a column dedicated to machine quilting…

AQ Magazine, Shamrocks, FMQ, Lori Kennedy

This month’s tutorial  is dedicated to my husband and children who are Irish–(I’m only Irish by marriage!)

The article contains way more than The Clover and The Shamrock…

The tutorial also includes a Trefoil and techniques for changing a simple single motif into a fabulous border!
AQ Magazine, Shamrocks, FMQ, Lori Kennedy

It’s on newsstands right now…or better yet, subscribe to AQ Magazine…

Glossy printed FMQ tutorials–the rest is gravy!  (and there’s lots of gravy!)

Signed,

Lucky Lori

To the Irish! (At least that’s the chant that goes around in my family as March 17 approaches, usually with an ale in our hands!)

The Irish Clover design has never appealed to me visually….ever. So when I received your email today….I thought ~ ratz…a motif I won’t enjoy. WRONG! Somehow you’ve managed to make it beautiful to my sense of visual taste. You go, Lori Kennedy!!! ***smiles***

I plan to pick up the magazine on my next visit to the LQS! With a little Irish heritage, I love incorporating designs like this one into my projects as it seems more personal since I am a Pat (even if it is Patricia and not Patrick) …unfortunately I have never been referred to as “Saint”.
    Thank you!

Love your articles in AQS magazine! (And by the way, in a previous post, there was a pic of your Aussies–gorgeous!)

Lori, I was pleasantly surprised to see your tutorial in American Quilter when I read it earlier this week. Your article stands out from all the others with all that green!

I have been following you for a few years now (utilizing many of your motifs) and I can’t believe it’s already been over 2 years that you have contributing to AQS! Great job!

My search for a clover FMQ is how I found you. Been following ever since, so Happy Anniversary to Me!!! hahahaha
Let me add my opinion on your instruction format … I prefer the still photographs vs. video. Many times I have highlighted your instructions and copied them into a Word document, adjusted the size of the photos so more would fit on fewer pages, and printed out for my 3-ring binder files of inspiration/instruction. Note: these are only for my reference. Should anyone else be interested, I send them to your blog. 🙂

I’m so glad you’re here! I will always keep the still photo tutorials-promise!
