Even though I’ve been at this for a while I consider8der myself a beginner at free motion quilting. There’s so much to learn and so litte time to practice!!! I’m an intermediate
applique-er, though, and just love the effects I get w/Sulky and the great stitch patterns on my Bernina (a bit of shameless pandering, but every word true)!! And thread painting, too— what fun!!
Monica
Beginner for both 🙂
Claudia
I would consider myself an early intermediate free motion quilter, still learning but getting better. And the same for applique. Love them both. Appliqued quilts have always been my favorite. And I do my own quilting on my domestic machine.
Linda in NM
A beginner at both MFQ and applique. I have not even tried anything but sewing strips and seams with my new Janome I purchased in Dec. Thread is so important and if you don’t get the right kind it will damage the machine. I have done some MFQ and applique on my Bernina but I think the Mother Board was burning up. No longer sews. would love to try Sulky on my new machine.

Would love to win this I am a beginner at all levels.
Eileen Bulger
Very much a beginner at both. I’ve been a sewer for a long time but haven’t mastered free motion and appliqué.
Vickie Alldrin
I have never done applique but would like to try, on the other hand I have a HandiQuilter longarm and am getting pretty good at free motion (in fact I’ll be sewing all day today 🙂 )
Paula
I’m just starting to machine applique (I’m a needle turn fanatic with an open mind). And I’d say I’m an advanced beginner as far as machine quilting. I’m always on the look out to see what thread quilter’s find to successfully play well with their sewing machine. Mine’s a Bernina too.
Janet Suber
Intermediate in both. I love Sulky too!
Sharon Steckler
I am a beginner free motion quilter and an intermediate machine applique that could always use more thread. Thanks for the opportunity to win some Sulky thread.
Sue
I’m intermediate in both skills, I think.
Sarah
I’d say I’m an intermediate free motion quilter (who needs to practice the skills I have a whole lot more often)
Probably a beginner at machine appliqué – it’s not a technique I use very often
Ruth
I feel like an advanced machine quilter. But an intermediate in machine appliqué.
Becky (central oregon)
I am a confidant beginner and a nervous intermediate, in both applique and machine quilting. Cause I am confidant enough to get myself into trouble often.
Diane McLauchlan
I consider myself intermediate at free motion quilting. Because I have gotten to the point where I say, “I wonder what this would look like.” I am a beginner at machine applique, working on a project from time to time. But I love quilting with bright colorful threads. Threads that have a sheen that says, “Look at me!”
Mary Mathis
I am a Beginner with Free Motion Quilting and Intermediate in Machine Applique. I have done quite a bit machine applique, but feel I can always learn more. Sulky is my decorative thread of choice. It always gives me outstanding results. Thank you for giving us an opportunity to win such a quality product.
Marian
I am an advanced beginner in free motion quilting and a beginner at machine applique. I love to try new types of thread and I am so happy I discovered this blog!

I’m a beginner at both free motion quilting and applique. I think I will enjoy it more as I learn more about both. Great giveaway from Sulky! Thanks!
Rebecca Clark
I’m an enthusiastic beginner at both.
Brenda Iwami
I’m in the intermediate category when it comes to free motion quilting, but have only done a few things with machine applique. My current project contains hand applique and I am only a novice at that…bit off more than I can chew comfortably.
Janice
I am a beginner at free motion quilting and and intermediate at machine applique. I am a thread lover!
Anneliese
I am a beginner at free motion quilting and also at machine applique. I have an old Bernina 707 and prefer doing small quilting projects. Though I have a big UFO quilt top done with hand applique and embroidery. I need to master machine quilting before I finish the quilt.
Carol
I think I’m intermediate at both but sometimes feel like a beginner when I haven’t done any free motion for a while. Lol I too am self taught and love all the tutorials on your site. Would love to win this thread! Thanks for the chance.
Brenda
I’d call myself intermediate at both — more than a beginner, but still lots to learn. Thanks for the chance to win the thread.
Julie Barkley
As a free motion quilter I’d say I’m a beginner, I’ve only tried a couple times because I was probably using the wrong kind of thread. As a Machine applique sewer I am also a beginner, I’ve done applique by machine before but only a few times.
Shar
Lori, I’m fairly new to your site and have enjoyed your daily blogs and tutorials. In my 30+ years of quilting, I have tried many things so I consider myself an intermediate to advanced piecer. I would say I am in the intermediate for machine applique and am learning more after making a foray into art quilting. Thanks for your encouragement and lovely spirit. Sulky thread is wonderful for many projects.
Tina Powell
I am a beginner at free motion quilting and the epitome of a beginner at applique.
Penny Pension
I like to think I’m intermediate in both, but when you come right down to it I’m a beginner. I’ve just discovered your blog because of your tutorials. Hopefully I’ll actually attain intermediate status (lol) reading your tutorials.
Josey
I am a beginner at Free Motion Quilting and really appreciate your tutorials. I am intermediate at Applique. My granny introduced me to applique when I was 5 years old and I have been in love with threads and quilting ever since! I would love to win these threads!

I am a beginner at free-motion quilting and I am not very good at it. I have been doing my own thing at machine applique. I have always used Sulky Embroidery thread for Embroidering. Most stores do not carry the newer colors that are available now.
Ness
I guess I would say intermediate at both also although I am self taught at the applique have tackled some fun but “hard” stuff cuz I didn’t know any better…lol…and I love it! Have learned a ton on the FMQ from you and it’s improved so much along with my confidence. Most of the quilts I do are bed size and can be intimidating.
Love the Sulky thread. We live so rural it’s hard to find the different threads around here and although online shopping is at our fingertips it’s hard to pick some things going by the picture…thread being one of them.
Thanks for the giveaway! Excited about that!!!
Barbara
I feel like I am an intermediate in both. Somewhat better at appliqué .
Judith
I am an experienced free motion quilter and a novice at machine applique. After reading Kathy Upton’s comment earlier, I would like her to get the thread. Sounds like she could use a positive in her life.
