Dorothy

Good Morning, Quilters!

I am taking some time off from blogging to care for my Mom.

While you will not receive any emails from me, The Inbox Jaunt will still be “open”.  All of the tutorials and posts will be available.   Look for us to return in early September.

Please keep Dorothy in your thoughts and prayers as you quilt.  I know she will feel your warmth!

Lori

Quilt the Rose and Dot Block named after Dorothy and her mom, Rose.

I am so sorry Deanna. I lost my mom in 2016 November. She was 92. I miss her every day

I wish you well in carrying for your Mom. It’s always tough to go from the child being cared for to the child doing the caring no matter the age. I hope for peace of mind for your Mom and the rest of your family. Stay strong!

    • Karen L.

That should be “caring for your Mom” as I am sure you knew. And by the way, what a lovely photo of your beautiful Mom. Do the best you can for her. You will never regret that!

      • Mary VanDoodewaard

Please do not be so critical of someone who is going through a difficult time.

      • Sandy

No, “to care for my mom” is correct? Really, you had to point out what you THOUGHT was a grammatical error?

      • Thank you Karen! I knew what you meant–darn autocorrect!

    • Mary VanDoodewaard

My apologies, I had not noticed Karen was correcting her own post.

Lori, so nice you are taking time to care for your Mom. Do you have to be away from home to do so? I lost my Mom, also named Dorothy, last year. She was almost 98. Her illness and decline in the last few months was a difficult time and I wish I’d been there for her more.

Blessings to you and your mom. I lost my dad in 2016, but was able to spend time with him everyday, caring for him and helping my mom. And we were all gathered around him with love for his last breath. My mom is doing well at nearly 83…but I feel your pain with what you are going thru. Prayers for comfort and peace.

We only get one mom so spend all the time you can with her. They’re such a special art of our lives and you’ll NEVER regret being there for her. It’s worrisome, I know, but you will find the strength to do the best for her. When one is not feeling well it’s such a God send to have a conscious family member beside you. Thank goodness she has such a wonderful daughter.

We’ll all be thinking of you and wishing both of you well.

I will be praying for you, your mother and all your family. May you feel God’s comfort and blessings. I lost my mother 25 years ago, I miss her but have wonderful memories of our times together. Peace and comfort to all of you.

  • You’ll never regret taking time off from the rest of your life to spend this time with your mom. I’m sure you’re making sure mom is taken care of, now don’t forget to take good care of yourself too. All of us who have gone through such a time are there with you today, and every day until you feel you can post again.

  • My mom’s name is also Dorothy. She is 86. Make sure you take time to care for yourself also. Prayers for peace and comfort.

  • Mary Jane

I had my mom in my home for the last week of her life, and while I sat by her bed, I finished a quilt she had made. Her comment was, “Thank you for doing that for me.” She was an awesome quilter and ,her quilts were works of art. She has been with the Lord for 25 years and all her family has a beautiful reminder of this dear lady. It is a special privilege to care for parents when they can no longer care for themselves. Bless you, Lori. You are doing the right thing.

  • Thank you so much for all you do! Caring for your Mom first is what you need to do, but take care of yourself too. Been there, done that, Hugs! (PS – currently using your brick pattern tutorial to quilt a wall, love it!)

  • Bless you! Prayers!

  • Sheila Stauffer
