When I was in high school years ago, my mother made me a beautiful Vogue peach linen sheath dress with bound buttonholes. She announced that it was the last dress she would make me. In time, she helped me make my wedding dress, and made 4 bridesmaid dresses with tucks on the bodice from…a Vogue pattern. (Do you remember quiana fabric?) She even managed to adjust the pattern for my junior bridesmaid. I still have the patterns and keep meaning to frame them for my sewing room.

Lori, my grandmother was an artist for covers of Vogue and Vanity Fair in 1916 and 1917. I am very fortunate to have prints of some of her covers. Let me know if you would like to see them.

Lori, I always had a love-hate attitude toward this marvelous art/fashion.. Love because of the marvelous design(s) and hate because I felt I would never be skinny enough to wear them. Well. I am skinny enough now, but 2 inches shorter at age 78 LOLOL! Love my sweats and tank top dresses…Perfect for stay-at-home season.

Hi,Marta. In my 20s I had the height, slender figure, and custom evening wear for my fun NY social life. Now I’m chunky, 2 inches shorter (like you), and love my fashion statement in sweats and elastic-waist skirts–perfect for life in Las Vegas. Who knew?

You live in LV? Our son lives there. We visited last Nov and I had trouble picking which clothes to take due to allowed onlyone suitcase. I took more quilting items than any other. Son took me over to The Christmas Goose Quilting Shop.. WOW! I did take one nice outfit for Thanksgiving Feast at Marche’ Bacchus. And today I am finishing the quilt with the fabrics he picked out…birthday in couple weeks. Lori,
I am doing bicycle wheels, and spokes, with sprocket of course on his quilt. I had to call him to find out proper ratio of sizes for all that. He has been a pro so would love to get it at least near right ! And Reberta, let us endeavor to soldier on as short people. ! Our sewing machines won’t complain !
