180 More Doodle Quilting Designs

Good Morning, Quilters!

We can NEVER have enough quilting designs!

If you’ve been a regular here at The Inbox Jaunt, I know YOU are always in search of new machine quilting designs, and Karen Burns has done it again!  Karen’s first book of quilt designs: 180 Doodle Quilting Designs was a huge success so she did it again!  This time,  she teamed up with Amelia Johanson to compile another collection of motifs for squares, triangles and borders.

180 Doodle Quilting Designs

Both books contain a  variety of doodled motifs from several designers including YOURS TRULY!

ONE MOTIF-THREE WAYS

There are sixty designs- each shown as a suite-filling a triangle, a square and a border.

I LOVE this!

First, it’s simple!  YOU only have to learn one motif to fill all the shapes in your quilt!

Secondly, YOUR quilt design is simple!  By modifying and varying one motif – you utilize the basic design principle: Repeat and Vary.

QUILT WITH LOVE

One of my four contributions is The Tree Lined Street.

This easy-to-stitch motif evokes the sentiment of “Home Sweet Home”!

Stitch Tree Lined Street to add a little loving reminder of home to whoever is wrapped up in YOUR quilt.

My Home Sweet Home is in Shepherdstown, WV, but my tree-lined street is a couple of miles away in Sharpsburg, MD. There were trees that were planted on each side of the street from the train station to the middle of town to shade the Civil War Veterans when they came to the town for reunions. (Or so the story goes). In autumn, the sugar maples that remain show their bright orange colors to remind us of days gone by.

When I was single (back in the dark ages) I had a Home Sweet Home in an apt., in a huge old house on tree lined Highland Avenue, in B’ham, AL.. It was Heaven to me
even if I did have to sew everything by hand in that era of my life. So eventually got married, bought first house and spent $100 on draperies for the 10 foot tall windows in the dining room. New husband said, ” I am not buying drapes for the 52 windows in this house..Let’s go buy a sewing machine! ” It lasted me/us family of 5 for 28 years.
