The Splendid Sampler 2–I’m In!!!

April 12, 2018

The Splendid Sampler 2Good Morning, Quilters!

Did YOU do The Splendid Sampler  Sew Along?  (Gallery HERE)

The Splendid Sampler Sew Along was organized by Pat Sloan and Jane Davidson and designed by more than 80 quilters.  Each quilter designed a single six-inch block.

The Splendid Sampler was so popular, Pat and Jane decided to do it again!  The Splendid Sampler 2- is starting soon-and they asked me to design a block!  Woo hoo!

The Splendid Sampler 2

HOW THE SEW ALONG WORKS:

June 14-November 1:  Every Thursday for 20 weeks a new FREE block is given out. Each week, a new designer and block are highlighted.  Links to the designer’s website allow you to learn their tips and techniques for creating the block.

December 6-The Sew Along continues with blocks from the NEW Book, The Splendid Sampler 2 (pre-orders available HERE). Designer links continue.

Throughout the year–YOU can show YOUR work in a Gallery of Quilts on Facebook!

May 2, 2019–The Sew Along is complete.

The Splendid Sampler 2

CAN YOU PICK MY BLOCK?

I am sworn to secrecy about my block–that’s part of the fun!  But I will say, I made it to the front cover–can YOU guess which is my block?

I LOVE A SEW ALONG!

I am excited to participate in the sew along this year!  One block a week?  Sure!

What about YOU?

Would YOU like to do a single block?  Or a whole year of blocks?

Did YOU do The Splendid Sampler 1?

Do YOU like Sew Alongs?

We’d LOVE to hear!

Splendid Stitching!

Lori

I think it’s the elephant! I didn’t do Splendid Sampler 1, but I’m thinking about II… The blocks and quilts from the first are stunning.

Yes, I did SS #1 and loved it, would encourage people to give it a shot. Lots of sweet blocks and wonderful people with creative, inspiring ideas!

Yes I did the Spendid sampler, 2 different times, for 2 quilts, it is so much fun, now I just need to get busy and quilt them. I also did the Moda block heads sewalong and Lori Holts Bee Happy sew along and am in the middle of Pat Sloans lets go camping sew along. Can’t wait to see which block is yours my guess the red sewing machine.

    Sewing machine

  14. Pat V says:
    April 12, 2018 at 10:04 am

I thought it was the single flower, next to the sewing machine. It looks so much like one of your quilt motifs.

  15. Mary Heard says:
    April 12, 2018 at 10:22 am

My guess is the bird in the middle of the top row

  16. Piecequilts says:
    April 12, 2018 at 10:42 am

I think your block is the bird on the twig at the top.
    I learn a lot from you. Thanks‼️‼️

  17. Linda R says:
    April 12, 2018 at 10:59 am

I think the sewing machine block as it looks a lot like your quilted version.

  18. Pat says:
    April 12, 2018 at 11:27 am

Sewing machine. Every one of them is cute as a button.

  19. Ellen says:
    April 12, 2018 at 11:36 am

Can’t see the whole block, but it looks like a button and I love buttons. I haven’t completed my blocks for #1 but I’m all in for #2 anyway.

  20. Suzanne G says:

I have to go along with several of the others; I think your block is either the little red sewing machine or the three flowers in the clamshells. They both look very much like something you’d do. I guess we have to wait for the book to find out? Or will we not know until next year? The suspense is killing me!!! (kidding!)

  21. Sue H says:
    April 12, 2018 at 4:25 pm

I think it’s the clam shells with 3 flowers.

  22. Pat says:
    April 12, 2018 at 4:46 pm

I’m voting for the bird! I know you like applique.

    1. Janet says:
      April 12, 2018 at 5:43 pm

I think the sewing machine block is yours . It has the little curl from the heart down to around the needle area. A very feminine touch.
I have received your 2nd book and Thank you so much for the continued
      inspiration.

February 14, 2016 I got an email, source unknown regarding Splendid Sampler, so I started sewing, I have made over 70 of the blocks, need to finish up. It was so much fun and I have splendid friends all around the world. Can’t wait for round 2 to start.

  24. Phyllis says:
    April 12, 2018 at 6:22 pm

Yes, I did the original Splendid Sampler and it’s finally on my bed completed 2 weeks ago. I enjoyed it but it put me behind on many UFO’s so won’t be doing it this time.

  25. Vanessa says:
    April 12, 2018 at 8:22 pm

Lori that’s awesome!! Congrats and how fun! I’m guessing the tree that looks like you are standing under it looking up… Paper pieced maybe? I remember a neat photo you took like that.

  26. Diane Dashevsky says:
    April 12, 2018 at 8:22 pm

I’m going out on a limb here by myself and say I think your block might be the one that looks like part of a modified log cabin. I can just see you filling those three strip strip sets with lots of those border motifs of yours…like a FMQ sampler within a block sampler…what a concept! Does the first correct answer get a free book?. LOL!!!

  27. Susan Shamekh says:
    April 12, 2018 at 10:27 pm

    The cat?

  28. Barb says:
    April 13, 2018 at 8:07 am

I won’t be making it. I’m on block 63 of the first one. I’m trying to make 2 a day to finish it. I think your block is the bowl with colored balls.
