Good Morning, Quilters!

Welcome to Day 3 of The Inbox Quilt Show!

We start with Mary Griffiths-O Canada! (above)–Great work, Mary!–the Canadian map is definitely more challenging than the USA silhouette!

Next, we have three quilts by Ann Walsh.  Be sure to check out her lovely website Ann Walsh Quilting.  Ann does custom quilting and she has quilts for sale.

I love My Doodle Garden by Kathy Nesler!  Kathy used one of our doodle tutorials as inspiration for this fabulous quilt sampler.

Jacqui Van Meppelen-Scheppink made this fabulous winter quilt–with the Dots-and-Dashes background.  Love how she is displaying it, too!

One of my favorites:  Claire’s Peony-with lots of rows!  Fabulous!

Judy Purcell used the motifs very creatively for an art portrait–front and back shown here.  Wow!

Julia Hamilton created this whimsical kitten candle mat.  I love the balls of yarn!  Great way to personalize!

This beautiful Christmas quilt by Rebecca Shaffer features stack and whack blocks and ornament and poinsettia quilting!  Makes me want to take another whack at this method myself!!!

Lorraine Doyno Evans feathers are gorgeous–but I see Swirls and Twirls and Faye’s Flowers too!  Beautiful use of variegated threads!

Now that IS a Yacht of Fun, Lynn Brazen—love YOUR sampler and the binding too!

Lynn also created this fun rag quilt.  I’m sure it will be a family favorite!

I can just picture a white poinsettia on Lynn’s red poinsettia quilt!  Very, very pretty!

All beautiful! How did Rebecca Shaffer make that stack and whack – it’s so perfect! It kind of looks like a “One block wonder” kind of thing. I’d love to do one – please tell me how.

Thanks for the nice compliment! I used Bethany Reynold’s book “Magic Stack’n’Whack Quilts. It’s the technique she calls 45Degree Diamond Magic. It was the first quilt that I used Lori’s designs on. I wasn’t feeling very brave, so I used matching thread that doesn’t show very well. I really admire all of the quilts done in heavier weight and contrasting threads. They are beautiful!

Bethany Reynolds has a PDF file on her website with Stack-and-whack basics. She has several books as well. I started one in a class many years ago, but have never finished it.

These are so beautiful. Such great quilting. I only hope that some day I will be able to do such beautiful work. I’m too bogged down with quilt making at the time so I haven’t been able to do any of the lessons, but I’m saving them so I can do them once I get all of the quilts constructed that I must get done before Christmas. Got my fingers crossed. These gals have done great work. (Undoubtedly because of a great teacher!)
