What a beautiful clematis! Nature blends colors so well. The purple and green would make a gorgeous quilt.

Tell me about the juxtaposition of the chain link and the softness of the Clematis. You shot from behind for the impact, and it has gotten my attention. What we are forced to use in our practical lives, can be softened by nature’s quiet beauty. 🙂

You make some excellent points–love the idea of practical and beautiful. Thanks for sharing, Sue!

What a beautiful picture. Question for you. Do you cut your clematis back? I have one growing around a pole with a bird feeder on top. Sometimes I try to trim out the dead, but I know the new growth comes on what looks like dead. Do not know how to tell the difference. I have two different ones growing. One has smaller flowers than the other and I think they bloom at different times. I love to grow flowers that are different. My angel trumpet is really pretty now. Over watered my achimenes with all the heat and will have to start over. Luckily, I had planted a few in smaller pots to share with a friend. My sister in law sent the rhizomes to me from back east.
Thanks for sharing your talents with us.

You sound like you know more about clematis than I do! I have a purple clematis that I don’t cut back. The photo was taken at The Lyndale Garden in Minneapolis.
