So elegant when gliding through the air … so ungainly as they come in to land. It’s like they just got their wings yesterday and don’t quite know how to fold them up.
I’ve often thought the pelican would have been a much better choice for a baby-delivery bird. Babies delivered swinging in a diaper on the end of a stork’s pointy beak seem so perilous. But delivered in a warm pelican’s gullet, out of the wind and rain, make so much more sense. Of course the babe would have a bit of pelican spit on it, but I’m sure the parents wouldn’t mind. 😉

I enjoy watching pelicans although according to my dnr son-in-law they are a very dirty bird!! Oh well they are fun to watch!
