Quilt Market: A Few Trends
Good Morning, Quilters and Quilt Lovers!
Welcome back to Quilt Show 2015 at The Inbox Jaunt--a virtual tour of Quilt Market viewed through the eyes of this inspired (and foot sore) Quilt Blogger (Winner of the Best Modern Quilt Blog–more on that next week!) We’ve been viewing fabulous quilts all week. If you’ve missed any…just keep scrolling to previous dates.
NOTE-I’ve provided all the information I have on the quilts and designers. A few of the quilts are not identified–sorry!
What’s “on trend” for 2015?
WOOL IS “IN”
Wool was everywhere at Quilt Market.
Bright wool! From Sue Spargo, The Wooly Lady, Purl and Loop, and In the Patch Designs…and many more!

TUFFETS ARE “IN”
What a great way to display fabric collections!
Does anyone have a link to a good tutorial for a tuffet? I’m sure we all would LOVE to sew one!

PRETTY IS ALWAYS “IN”

THE PLAN, DAY ONE
My resolution from yesterday…get up two hours early to quilt…
Perhaps, I’ll stay UP two hours later…?!?
Sew many quilts…Sew little time,
Lori

Great summary of Market, I hope to go next year….great things happening in my life….I will connect with you soon.
Send details ASAP!!!!
thank you so much for sharing
Did you happen to notice or talk to anyone about how the wool quilts were quilted? I’m a longarmer and I tried to quilt a customers Sue Spargo quilt and actually had to give it back to her. I just love those quilts but the thickness of the wool prevented me from getting anywhere close to the applique areas and I did not like how the quilting looked so uneven. I tried raising my hopping foot to accommodate but that caused issues in the less thick background areas. I feel that a domestic machine would be better suited for the varying thickness than a longarm. If there is some way in the future that I would be able to adjust and work on these masterpieces, I would love to hear some ideas.
Sandy, APQS has an article called Wool Appliqué on your Longarm on April 30, 2013. You can just Google that subject to get all kinds of hits. Hope this helps!
Thanks. I’ll check that out.
What a wonderful experience…. so jealous! Inspirations shared THANK YOU!
I bought a pattern to make my tuffet. which is very similar to the one in the photo. It is gorgeous – almost all Denyse Schmidt.
We brought home the pattern name of that exact Tuffet cuz it’s so darn cute, but I can’t put my finger on the card right now. The feet you can get from Home Depot or someplace like that.
Cool! When you find it would you send us the info pretty please!?
Erin Underwood of Erin Underwood Quilts has a GREAT Tuffet pattern using her Creative Grids Ruler she designed.
Thank you!
Thanks for your reports from Quilt market, you seem to have found different things to the other blogs I’ve looked at, they all seem to show the same things. You have a great eye for colour and spotting the innovative.
LOVE The Wooly Lady! She’s an amazing person with gorgeous designs! Glad to see you highlight her and her work!
Your photography is really good and you’ve included something for each of our individual tastes. With so many people milling around it’s hard to get an unobstructed shot, but you’re our fearless leader and you did it!

Thanks Tavette! It was fun for me!

Thanks for sharing your photos and thoughts on trends. FYI, the link to the Timeless Treasures free pattern is currently only a data sheet with fabric requirements … no pattern is supplied 🙁
Sophie, how did you change the quilty logo to a photo (next to your name)?
