My Sewing Studio-Before and After!
Good Morning, Quilters!
Do you remember the”Before” photos of my sewing room? (I wrote about it HERE and HERE) It was an organized mess–BUT it was brightly lit–so I loved it!
Last year I started the process of remodeling my sewing room…
The shelves were installed in December…
And I lived half in and half out of the room while I waited for the painter….
The real hardship came along with the painter– I couldn’t be in the room for ten days!
But it was definitely worth the wait!!!!
I am slowly moving in—organizing and purging as I go.
I’ve even found a few lost friends (more UFOs!)
It’s a little slice of heaven…
You won’t be seeing me for some time….
Cooking? 1-800-PIZZA
Lost in the upstairs room,
Lori

Wow! And wow again! Full of green-eyed envy here. What I wouldn’t give for a sewing room like that! It must be so hard to leave that sanctuary. It is beautiful and definitely worth the wait! Love that huge cutting table and all the storage!
Absolutely beautiful! You deserve it! Thanks for all of your unselfish work sharing your talents.
Awesome room! Love it!!! And thanks so much for all your tutorials!! I’ve learned sew much from you!!
Shut the front door!! What a fab studio!! Enjoy!!!
Beautiful sewing room! Color me green.
What a fabulous space!! I am jealous of all your cabinets and shelving, so colorfully displayed with those lovely fabrics.
I feel your joy! I recently moved and our new house has a walkout basement. I claimed a 15 x 33 space as mine and now have everything built in, organized and in one room. My version of Disney Land.
You have so earned this GREAT room! Enjoy!
Hi Lori, congratulations, it looks beautiful! Did you have someone make the cabinets to exactly fit your space or were you able to buy them, where and what brand were they? I have a new studio space to furnish and I like how you did yours!
I had them custom made.
Wow–looks fantastic! I’m jealous! You do all of your FMQ on that small table? Does it open? How do you support the weight and size of larger quilts without distorting your work?
Looks fabulous Lori! Have fun moving back in!
Beautiful! I love your new play room!
Very nice. How lucky are you!
What a beautiful space! I am so happy for you! I know you will enjoy it for years to come! Thanks for sharing it with us.
What fun! It looks wonderful. Enjoy!
Did you design this yourself? Love, Love, LOVE it!!! Wish I had that much light in my room (which I affectionately refer to as “the dungeon”!)
Very happy for you!
Beautiful haven perfect for creating! Have fun!!
Lori, i love it! It is fabulous!!
Looking great!! I love all your new storage! 🙂
Very nice. Every girl needs a nice place to sew. Where did you get your shelves? I have Horn furniture and I have ask them to make a bookcase to match.
Perfection!!! Nirvana!!!! Enjoy!!!!
Is “purge” your word for 2017? I had picked “cull, pare, downsize” as mine for this year. I posted it on slips of paper on most light switch plates around the house and in my kitchen window.. It is actually helping! My sewing room now feels more like a comfort zone instead of Yeeks! More to go, tho. Thanks for sharing your treasure with us.
Beautiful!
Love your studio!!! my husband just built phase one of mine, which is for my embroidery table, now he is working on phase 2 for my Bernina,, I would love to see your sewing cabinet without the Bernina chair!!
Wow, what a wonderful studio!
Beautiful studio. I understand the moving in part. I reorganized in January and purged a lot and yes found more UFOs!
I love your room, Lori! You obviously put a great deal of thought into designing it.
Your sewing machine is in the perfect spot to enjoy the sunshine and the view, and that cutting table is to die for! Congratulations on completing a wonderful project that you’ll be able to use for years to come.

For those of us forever stuck in a corner of the basement next to the furnace, we will quilt vicariously through you. Enjoy the studio. Your totally deserve it.

Love your new studio! Do you do long arm quilting? Didn’t see it in the picture? Thanks for all your posts and teaching us how to be better!
I bet your feet haven’t even touched the floor when you go in there………I have cold chills for you….. you’ve worked hard for this and deserve it!!!!!! “SEW” happy for you…….
WOW can’t wait to see the whole redo. What is the green paint color. Looks like what I’ve been looking for.
I wish I had such a lovely place. It is exactly the studio each of us is dreaming of.
You deserve it !
So gorgeous!!! Lucky you!
Beautiful sewing room! Your hard work paid off.
You deserve it, Lori. Enjoy and have fun; I know you will.
Lori, so beautiful. Congrats.
You’re newly remodeled room is a dream. I have wanted a similar set up, but I have been having difficulty getting my husband to understand exactly what I mean. I will be showing him your blog.
Where did you get your shelving units?? I’m in the process of building a new house with a nice big sewing studio. I love the idea of having my fabric behind doors or in drawers but am having a little difficulty finding pre-maid units that suit my needs. Did you have them custom made?
They were custom made.
what a beautiful transformation!!!
Awesome space, Lori! Love all that storage in your light filled space for creating beautiful quilts! Thanks so much for sharing!
Wow! LOVE it!
You are so talented. Previous comment is correct. “You have earned your room.” The shelving is perfect as well as the work island. Did a cabinet maker do the work? What are the room dimensions? It is so perfect to look at.
How my mind works. I’m thinking there’s room on top for baskets too! Oh, will I never stop.
Wow! I am definetly jealous! It must be so nice to be able to actually see what you have instead of diffing around for it! Enjoy!!!!!!
Looks amazing and so welcoming. Your shelves look very nicely arranged where you can view fabric at a glance. You gave me some ideas for my sewing room.
Get some baskets Lori, that way you can put in what you need and use it. When finished for the day load it back to the shelf. I also label mine xxx
