And Anne Bullock used the pattern to piece and quilt this fabulous quilt!
Anne’s choice of fabrics is lovely–and again, the quilting really enhances the quilt!

I do paper piece and love Carol Doak’s patterns. I started out very simply doing paper pieced patterns from Quilter’s Newsletter. They did a whole series for about a year. I recently taught the members of my guild by using a simply pattern (only 6 pieces) that I created – a landscape/mountain quilt. I added quilting and embroidery.

They are both beautiful and a great example of texture with quilting.
I love paper piecing. I enjoy the freezer paper method so there is no paper to tear off after sewing. PLUS you can reuse the pattern!

Love the wallpaper design – very creative! – and the fabric extending beyond the borders. Also love the quilting behind the heron. It’s great to see how the quilting does enhance the work. Thank you for sharing and inspiring all of us.

I have done paper piecing before, but never from a photo. So II’m curios about That missing step above… what tools/computer program was used to create each pattern above. Thanks!
I got hooked on paper piecing after I took a class with Carol Doak. She’s an awesome teacher and a genuinely nice person. If you get the opportunity, I recommend any class she is teaching.

They are gorgeous! I have made blocks with paper piecing but have never designed one from a picture. I may have to add that to my list of things to try.
For my friend I used to make a beautiful “Umbrella”, whose design I got from Peggy Aare. Great sewing. I will definitely sew another Umbrella for me
