Intermediate free motion quilter and beginner at machine applique.

  • Rita Gronberg

How can I enter the Sulky thread Giveaway?

  • Allison D

I’d say I’m intermediate at FMQ and haven’t even started applique.

  • I am a newbie to both, but I am ready to learn.

  • Joanne Tyndall

I am a Intermediate free motion quilter but I am a Beginner in Machine Applique. I have purchased machine embroidery programs that will easier on my hands. I can’t wait to have some time to try it. Many colors of Sulky would be a great help.

  • Terrie

I am a true beginner with free motion quilting, just received my new Bernina 880. I am also a beginner at applique despite the fact that my first quilt top had 20 blocks with a four piece boot on each block. Yikes!! At first I got burnt out but proudly completed the quilt and gave it to my Dad for Christmas this year. I love the challenge of learning something new in the quilting world.

  • Jeanne

I guess I would have to label myself a beginner at FMQ. I have quilted a number of quilts and am satisfied with the results but I have to mark everything. I am just too picky about everything being just “so” to truly FMQ. I’m trying to free myself from this addiction by doing your tutorials, Lori. As far as machine applique goes, I’m afraid I’d be in the same category…simply becasue I avoid it whenever possible!!

  • I have done some free motion but consider myself a beginner. Am also a beginner at applique.

  • Karen A

I would consider myself to be intermediate in both machine applique and free motion quilting. I still love learning new techniques and new designs.

  • lavonne

I am a beginner in Free Motion quilting – that is why I am so glad I found your site. I know I will be able to master it given time – but I’m 70 so I better hustle. I am OK at applique but don’t use it much in my quilts. I am a piecer at heart. I love the new modern pieced patterns and that is why I want to learn FMQ. In the new, simpler designs, one can make the fabric and the quilting shine not the pieced pattern.

  • Madeline Trainor

I’m a beginning FMQuilter and an intermediate machine appliquer.

  • I am a beginner at machine quilting. I do not do any machine applique. Though I would like to.

  • Cindy Murphy

I am a beginner with both. I really want to make a quilt with applique but it scares me. I know with practice I will develop the skill to do both. Thanks

    • Judy Shaw

I am a beginner at both. I have done patchwork for many years.

  • Jane Townsend

I would classify myself as a beginner in both ares, trying to become proficient on at least one.
The giveaway is awesome, thanks for the chance.

  • Sandra Chavez

I am a beginner FMQ ‘er and an intermediate appliquer. I am enjoying the inspiration Ibget from reading your blog and hope to become proficient in FMQing.

  • I am a beginner at both.

  • Kim Barnett

I’m a total beginner on both…but I LOVE Sulky thread so much.

  • I’m a beginner at free motion quilting. I haven’t tried applique, but would love to try it!

  • Carole Diehl

I would say that I am an intermediate in machine applique and although I use a longarm for my quilting, I really enjoy your tutorials and have adapted them for use on my quilts. I tried doing free motion using my Bernina, but was not as proficient as I would have liked. I do feel that I am accomplished at free motion quilting on the longarm and really enjoy doing feather and flower patterns.

  • Jenny

I am a beginning free motion quilter – it is a bit tricky at the start but “they” assure me that it can be done – and an intermediate machine appliquér. Every time I think I know what is going on I with machine applique I find a new way to try. How wonderful!

  • Rose Edwards

I am an intermediate appliquer and am currently taking beginner classes on the long
arm machine. I love Sulky thread!!

  • Pauline Gardner

I am a Beginner in Free Motion Quilting and Machine Applique, .but I love using Sulky thread in my Machine Embroidery Designs

  • Debbie Horton

I consider myself a beginner at machine quilting, having only quilted one king size, one queen and several smaller projects. Each project I learn, a lot, about all phases of the process. I love it!

Machine applique – hardly any experience, but I have 2 projects and a class coming up!

  • I consider myself an intermediate free motion and machine appliquér…I love them both.

  • Margaret

Definitely a beginner when it comes to machine quilting, and have done some fusible machine applique.

  • Judith

I thought I was pretty good at free-motion quilting… until this week. I am trying to free-motion a cable quilting design on the borders of a quilt I am making for my grand-daughter’s high-school graduation. Maybe it is because the cables have to be so evenly spaced to look right, that every time I slide off the marked line, it sticks out like a sore thumb. So today I consider myself a rank beginner at free-motion quilting. However, my quilting friends really seem to like my applique. I think I am advanced at machine applique and a beginner at needle-turn applique. I refuse to let it lick me though. I am going to keep at it until I get it right.

  • connie barnett

I would say an Intermediate quilter and a more advanced machine appliquer. I love the Sulky threads for applique, they add just that little zing to the piece.

  • Julie Brooks

I am a beginner free motion and I haven’t really done much applique. Actually, I am a beginner quilter, having done more home dec sewing before.

  • Patricia L

I’m a beginner at FMQ (boy are my stitches on the back large….) and intermediate at machine applique. I especially enjoy the applique patterns of Debra Gabel of Zebra Patterns, who does the StateStamp, Where ‘ya Been, Quilt Blocks Across America patterns, etc Plus the quilter “license plate” printed panels. Her latest fun thing is the Row By Row Experience: http://www.rowbyrowexperience.com/.
her site is here: http://www.zebrapatterns.com/ She is my favorite designer! (and a pretty neat person and friend)

  • anniemac

I’m a free motion quilting avoider. If I really need it to complete a project, I trade some expertise in machine applique for the fmq.

  • Darlene Jacolik

I would consider myself a beginner in free motion. I do a lot of appliqués so I would consider myself at the intermediate level.

  • Eugenia Read

I am definitely a beginner at both free motion quilting and machine applique. I am attempting to learn and practice more free motion quilting. I am intrigued with machine applique; but feel I have so much more to learn about other areas of quilting, that I may never learn it. This package would definitely give me the inspiration I need to follow through. Thank you for the offer!

  • Jean Jones

I’m a beginner free motion quilter. I can’t even type that without laughing. I haven’t ever free motion quilted…just read about it, admired free motion quilted quilts…everything but taking the free motion plunge myself. I have actually done machine appliqué and love it, but still consider myself a beginner.

  • Margaret Wiedeman

I am a beginner at FMQ, and I would consider myself intermediate at machine appliqué. I started out doing wall hangings and lately have been doing more bed-size quilts, so have gotten away from the FMQ. A quilter from Austin, Texas, who drove up to Fairbanks with another quilting friend in Lazy Daze motorhomes, told me about your blog after having moose steaks on our deck when they were visiting us, and it has inspired me to spend some time practicing FMQ. Thanks for all your inspiring posts and for the give-away!
    Margaret

  • Debbie

I am an intermediate free motion quilter and appliquer!! And I’d LOVE the thread. Thank you!

  • Bonnie Pratt

I am an absolute newby to free motion quilting I’ve only tried wiggly lines and some point to point square and triangle designs. I’m in awe of the works of art you post on your blog I hope someday to be half as good. I’ve never attempted machine appliqué at all . I do love all the colors and sheen of the sulky threads! They look amazing

  • Diane S

Beginner at free motion quilting and intermediate in machine applique.

  • Hazel

I consider myself as between intermediate and advanced in both applique and FMQ. I have a rather large assortment of Sulky rayon threads and use them in smaller wall hangings and art quilts. For my larger bed quilts I love both Aurifil and Superior’s Masterpiece which I have encouraged our local quilt shop to stock, otherwise I have to order on-line. I just discovered your blog a couple months ago and it’s a favorite now. I love your postings.

  • The colors of those threads are absolutely beautiful. I am a beginner at free-motion quilting and an intermediate in applique.

    • Kathleen

I love sulky too. I am an intermediate machine appliquér and beginner free motion quilter, I have been a beginner for a long time : )

  • Amy L.

I’m very much a beginner for both! I’ve sewn for years, but am only wokring on my first quilt now.

  • Chris Reeske

I am an intermediate at FMQ and a beginner ay machine applique, though an intermediate at hand applique.

  • nicole buckley

    Lori sign me up,
I am a new long arm quilter so have to say BEGINNER at FMQ.
I’ve done appliqué the old fashioned way using a zig zag only on my machine. Do again, a beginner!
    Love from Sarasota, nicole

  • I’m pretty much a beginner in FMQ. I think I just need to get my hands and foot on the same page on speed! I’m a little more than a beginner on applique, but not a whole lot more. <3 I also love Sulky lol!

  • Tanya

Haven’t tried the sulky rayon yet but would love too. I’m a beginner at free motion quilting and probably intermediate at appliqué. Enjoy doing both

  • Julie Johnson

    Julie J.
I am a beginner free motion quilter and that is why I enjoy your blog so much!
I am intermediate at machine applique. I wish I had more time to practice on applique, but I never seem to have enough time to sew!

  • bobbie

Definitely a beginner at both free motion quilting and machine applique. I have used the Sulky rayon before for machine embroidery. My machine loves it, and it creates such a beautiful look. And the colors!!

  • Sue Brockus

I am a complete beginner in FMQ but plan to give it a shot this summer on rainy sewing days. Although I did make one lap quilt using machine appliqué designs, I still consider myself a beginner I’m machine appliqué as well.

  • Sheree Sheets

Hi! I consider myself to be a newbie at FMQ since I’ve done a few small pieces but only here and there. Same with machine applique. Now that I am an empty-nester, I have plans to expand my horizons. I’ve started an online FMQ class but I am so glad to have found your blog. I am loving your designs and the way you explain how to do them.

  • Denise T Vinson

I’m a in-be-tween (Beginner/intermediate) FMQ but I am advanced at Machine Applique. I have found that I always go back to my Sulky Thread with any machine applique I make. Love your threads and Thank you for this opportunity to win your slim case full of Sulky thread!!!.

  • Although I have been sewing and quilting for a very long time, I consider myself a beginner at free motion quilting and intermediate in machine appliqué. Both are things I have wanted to become more proficient at for a long time now.
