  • I would say I’m an intermediate free motion quilter and a beginner at machine applique.

  • Rosemary B here:
    Wow, this is beautiful.
I have never used Sulky Thread. I am not sure where to buy it here!
I consider myself a BEGINNER with regard to both inquiries.
This box of threads makes me excited!
Thank you for offering this grand giveaway, Sulky Threads, and sweet Laurie.
    Have a lovely day.

  • Carla Mehner

Thanks for the opportunity to win this. I subscribed to this blog to learn how to fmq but have not been able to take the time to practice but I will ;definitely a beginner. I am absolutely amazed at your designs and willingness to share. As far as machine applique I would call myself an advanced beginner. I have a small collection of sulky threads I have used for machine embroidery but would love to have more.
    Thank you.

  • Well the questions are easy for me – I am a beginner at all of it! I would love to give this thread a go! thank you!

  • sillyandrea

Intermediate machine quilter but beginner applique.

  • Pat Meinecke

My FMQ is at the intermediate stage and same for Machine Applique.

  • Melissa Lamb

I consider myself advanced in free motion quilting and intermediate skill level for machine applique.

  • Intermediate, I would love to try rayon thread! Generally I use 100% cotton

  • Kathy Decker

I am a beginner at free motion and machine applique. I often try new threads to see what different textures they give to my work but I haven;t tried the rayon thread. I think the rayon thread would give a nice look to the applique edges and would love to try it,

  • Christina H.

I am an slowing becoming intermediate at FMQ and although I have been sewing for many years still feel like a beginner at appliqué. I’m sure this thread could make my appliqué more beautiful. Thank you for the opportunity.

  • Diane Bartow

I am a beginner at both FMQ and applique. Your blog has helped me so much.
Thank you Lori and Sulky for the chance to win a box full of rayon thread!

  • Fran Carreras

Hi Lori, another beginner FMQ, but intermediate applique. I have a few rayon spools in my favorite colors and adore the way they sew out. Would love to add to my collection, thanks for this opportunity

  • Donna Cousino

I consider myself an intermediate quilter and beginner machine appliquér. I have had trouble achieving a professional look appliquing despite trying different threads. Not everything needs or should be hand appliquéd so I would love to try the Sulky thread.

  • ◾Do you consider yourself a Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced at Free Motion Quilting?
I love free motion quilting and have done a lot of it so I’m intermediate I would like to say advanced but I’ll not.
◾Are you Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced at Machine Applique?
Now this I am advanced because it is sooo easy to do. I’ve done several large quilts and even won a contest doing it.

  • Barb M

I am am an advanced machine quilter but a beginner appliquier. I do love the sulky thread!

  • Suzanne

That’s a super giveaway prize! I consider myself an intermediate FMQuilter, but only a beginner at machine appliqué. I lean towards hand appliqué. I really don’t feel confident enough using the machine for that yet.

  • Sheila

Beginner at both. But I have been using Sulky thread and my Phaff loves it!

  • What a great giveaway! I consider myself a intermediate at both!

  • Shirley McIntyre

This would be a great win!!! I consider myself intermediate at both machine quilting and appliqué. I have done both for years but always stick to my comfort zone, because I feel advanced there. I,should call it my simple zone!

  • Debbie

I think i am an intermediate machine quilter and an trying new things all the time. As for machine applique, I would say I am advanced. It is one of my loves.

  • Debby K

I’m probably between a beginner and intermediate in both.

  • Dottie Brooks

Hi Lori, I am a beginner at FMQ, but thanks to you am getting better. I have only tried fusible applique with machine quilting a decorative stitch around it. So not even a beginner on real machine applique. I would love to try to add some interest to my quilts using the rayon threads. Thanks for all you do,

  • I am a beginner free motion quilter (I don’t practice enough). I am a beginner in applique also. Only made a couple of small pieces. Great giveaway.

  • Chris

  • Debbie Sheldon

Hi Lori: I consider myself a real beginner at machine quilting. I am so new at it that I only use my walking foot my friend keeps pushing me and I don’t know why but free motion scares me. My friend Laura introduced me to your blog. Her machine quilting has taken off, her work is beautiful. My sewing machine has some special stitches but I do not have an applique machine with a hoop. I attended a workshop with Kim Kiehl and she showed us how to machine applique–great class. I also attended a workshop with Mary Kay Buckley and she showed us hand applique. I consider my self a beginner at machine applique. You blog has been a real inspiration–thanks.

  • Thank you for a chance to win such a nice giveaway! I love machine applique and have been doing it for many years although I must admit I have only used cotton but can see that the use of the rayon could result in a much finer application. I will certainly be trying it. As for machine quilting I still consider myself a novice but have improved recently after finding your blog and weekly tutorials and also your articles in American Quilter. I am using your pine bough and pine cones on a project right now, Thank you for all you do.

  • Karen Misner

I consider myself a beginner in free motion quilting and almost intermediate in appliqué, but have room for huge areas of improvement in both.

  • Laura

I am intermediate at FMQ and beginner at machine applique. I’ve mostly used cotton thread, but am just starting to experiment with different threads. I would love to win the sulky rayon. Thanks for a wonderful blog!

  • I consider myself an intermediate machine quilter and appliquer.

  • I think I am intermediate at free motion and beginner at machine appliqué thanks for the blog

  • I am really a beginner at free motion quilting but I keep trying. I have done quite a bit of machine applique – I really bad at hand applique so machine is the only way to go.

  • I consider myself somewhere between beginner and intermediate FMQer… I can do the basics well, but need to crack open the creativity on it as I get too stuck in using the same basic designs all the time. As for appliqué, I’m a true beginner! P.s. Love your blog!

  • Rebecca

I am a beginner at FMQ and experienced at appliqué. Never tried the rayon at FMQ. Hmmm

  • I consider myself an intermediate machine quilter and machine embroiderer. Still so much to learn!

  • Jacque

    Whoo Hoo count me in….please

I am definitely a beginner in fmq but I keep trying.. I would say intermediate in machine applique (one of my favorite things to do).

  • Rita S.

Thanks for the chance to win!!

  • Allison Evrard

I’m probably an intermediate free motion quilter (thanks to you!) and a beginner with machine applique. I’ve never worked with rayon thread so I’m be happy to try.

  • I’m a beginner who is enamored with the entire process. Yesterday, I went to a wonderful exhibit at the Boston Museum of Fine Art that showcased the Pilgrim and Roy collection from the 1800’s – magnificent. 🙂 Thank you for the opportunity.

  • Nadine Vining

I like the tentative intermediate FMQ like Carol Nelson. Maybe advanced beginner would suit me better. I’m very much a beginner machine applique. I’ve never tried rayon, but was just looking at it this week. Hope I win.

  • Cathy Killiany

I’m definitely a beginner in both fmq and appliqué. I know practice is soon to be my best friend! Thank you for the op to win!!

  • carol nelson

I consider myself a tentative intermediate quilter and machine applique(r). I love trying anything…

  • Hi Lori….I’m back to Inbox Jaunt after being away many months…getting back to living. I consider myself a Beginner freemotion machine quilter. If I had been practicing every day like I used to I might be an intermediate by now. Several months ago I bought a Singer embroidery machine and haven’t used it yet. My Dad passed away unexpectedly on Valentine’s Day and my Mom had a stroke at the funeral and passed the next day. So losing them both in 6 days has sent me into a tailspin. I am just now getting back into life …. sewing, cleaning, writing and breathing again. Blessings….I’m trying to catch up in IJ archives….thanks so much for all you do.

  • Becky Ellis

I consider myself an intermediate (or maybe more advanced beginner) at both FMQ & machine applique. Have done both for several years & enjoy both but am never fully satisfied with my results. Have been hesitant about using rayon thread for a variety of reasons but winning the give away would be a wonderful way to break outside my narrow box & give rayon a try. Thank you Lori & Sulky for offering this & for all you do to improve & promote beautiful stitching.

  • I consider myself to be a beginner at FMQ and at applique. I have done both and enjoy it, just need to practice, practice, practice! Thank you for having this wonderful give away!

  • Hi Lori: I have wanted to try Rayon but have been hesitant while I’ve been learning to FMQ. I think I’m ready to try some different threads other than cotton.
I consider myself an intermediate at FMQ and advanced at machine applique.
It’s such a fun process to learn both techniques. I
also embroider so I Loved your modern quilt with the vintage embroideries.
I love to add applique and then FMQ my embroidered quilts as well.
