I would consider myself a beginner at both after seeing some of the creative things people do. People do incredible work!

    • Linda Evers

I am intermediate on appliqué and used Sulky for a stitchers garden. I have begun free motion quilting and have yet to begin to be a beginner. I start, but stop and then start from ground zero again. So I am once again a beginning, beginner. LOL

  • Becky

I am a beginner at both…..hoping to improve in both too!

  • Linda Holverson

I’m advanced on machine applique but still a beginner at free motion quilting. Have tried the Sulky thread maybe it would help.

  • Deniz Ganowsky

I am intermediate to advanced in machine applique and a beginner in free motion quilting.

  • Mary Loveless

I am a beginner on machine applique and an intermediate on machine quilting. Thank you for your wonderful patterns and to Sulky for the giveaway.

  • Hi I’m from Arkansas and I’m a beginner in free hand quilting and piecing. My mom is really good she also does the quilting and piecing by hand, she has some beautiful quilts. I’m a little on the intermediate to beginner on the applique by machine, I’m getting better. I’d love to add to my growing collection of threads, they look like jewels to be hanging on my wall. Thanks for all your inspiration you give your readers each time you write on your blog.

  • Joyce Ward

I am a RANK beginner in free motion quilting but probably could be intermediate in machine applique. I’ve used the Sulky Rayon thread in machine embroidery for embellishing clothing. It adds a lot.

  • Sharon "Shane" Dallman

I am at an intermediate level with my free motion quilting and at a beginner level at my machine applique work. I am an avid sewer and have been sewing since about age 5. I love thread and have quite a collection of old threads on wooden spools so I could use some new threads! Thank you for such a wonderful offer and also for all your lovely tutorials! I truly enjoy your blog!

  • A newbie at both FMQ & appliqué.

  • I am a beginner with applique – have only done it a few times. I must have progressed in Free Motion Quilting since I am not as scared of it as before. I do it and enjoy it but struggle to get started! thanks for all the tips. Cindy

  • Edra Moore

I consider my self a beginner at free motion quilting. I consider myself a begginner at machine appliqué although I have had much more success with the machine appliqué than free motion quilting. ( I know I need to practice more on the free motion quilting but get frustrated and don’t keep at it)
    Love sulky thread!

  • maggielou

O I love Sulky I am a beginner at FMQ and follow all your tutorials. I am learning applique by machine. I look for all the tutorials I can to see how other quilters do both turned applique and fused applique.

  • souderja

I am a intermediate free motion quilter and a beginner in applique. I have used Sulky threads butthave not tried the rayon yet. Thanks for the giveaway.

  • Diana Knight

I consider myself an intermediate to advanced machine quilter. And I love doing machine applique – I feel fairly advanced in that regard. I’d love to do both with Sulky thread!

  • bluedove2014d

I am an intermediate in both FMQ and machine appliqué and love them both. And I love the Sulky Rayon thread.

  • I’m definitely a beginner at both! I’m doing pretty good at the free-motion quilting, and find I just love doing machine applique.

  • I would say that I’m a strong beginner (?) hehe at both.

I honestly never would have thought to use Rayon thread for FMQ! I’m definitely going to try it now! Thank you.

  • Lynn McBroom

I am an intermediate free motion quilter. I’ve never done any machine appliqué so given the 3 choices…. Beginner.

  • That would be fabulous to have to use. I used to be an intermediate machine appliquer…but I found out recently that if you don’t practice your skill level goes down; so I’m a beginner again. FMQ? I’m not a rank beginner but not quite intermediate.

  • Nancy N

I would say that I am an intermediate FMQer and machine appliquéer. I love using rayon thread for appliqué, have not tried it for FMQ. I still need a lot of practice doing both. Winning the thread would definitely help. Thank you, and Sulky, for the give away.

  • Carol F

    Beginner at both.

  • Evie H

Although I’ve done a number of free-motion quilts, I’m going to consider myself a beginner because there is much to improve. As for appliqueing, I do most by hand and just a few by machine, so there, too, I am a beginner. Thanks for the fantastic giveaway.

  • Noticed the case states 40 wt…do you also use 40wt?

  • Paula

Intermediate to advanced with FMQ, beginner at machine appliqué. Thanks Lori! Love your blog!

  • Jeanette

I’d say I’m an intermediate free motion quilter with lots of room to learn more techniques! I do more hand appliqué than machine appliqué but I’m comfortable doing it on the machine so I would have to say intermediate there too! Great contest! Thanks!

  • Nancy Pruitt

I am a beginner machine quilter and haven’t even done any machine appliqué, however that is one of the goals I have made for myself in my new quilters notebook. I am so excited by getting my ufo’s in order and trying new skills at the same time!!

One day I hope to advance up the ladder and feel more confident. Thanks. Denyse

I consider myself a beginner at FMQ but have a Bernina that I purchased because of the stitch regulator so I am eager to use it. I am probably a intermediate on the machine appliqué as I have done that for a number of years for the gran kids.
