Good Morning, Quilters!
How would you like to save calories by quilting?
Wouldn’t that be nice!?
Maybe the next time you crave an ice cream cone, you could quilt one instead!?
Quilted ice cream cones aren’t as tasty, but the enjoyment lasts longer!
Ice Cream Cone Tutorial and Video FREE
Check out the step-by-step tutorial and video available on BERNINA’s We All Sew blog.
The tutorial for the cupcake can be found in my second book, MORE Free Motion Machine Quilting 1-2-3 in the Celebrations chapter on page 108.
Save Calories by Doodling Too
Of course, you should doodle first!
Practice the ice cream cone and the cupcake.
A Quilting Recipe
Then combine the ingredients into a composition!
I started with a square and placed the calorie-saving ice cream motifs on the diagonals. Then I added the cupcakes in between.
There’s a lot going on here, but the ice cream cones still look scrumptious!
Just think how many calories I saved!
The Save Calories by Quilting Diet?
Diet books are always on the best-seller list. Perhaps I’m on to something…
Next time I’m craving something I’ll just quilt it instead!
I think I’ll quilt a pie!
What about YOU?
Do YOU crave ice cream?
What’s your favorite flavor? (I LOVE butter pecan!)
Do you think we could quilt our cravings away?
We’d LOVE to hear!
May YOUR day be filled with all the things YOU crave!

Loved your lecture yesterday at Quilt Expo! You encourage me to continue to practice and doodle. I especially liked your Mona Lisa comparison . . . Helps me explain to friends why I choose to quilt my own quilts even if they aren’t so perfect.
Off to doodle!

So glad you enjoyed “the show”! There are many reasons to quilt it ourselves! Can’t wait to see what you create!

Lori – I love the ice cream cones! I really enjoyed meeting you at the Quilt Expo in Madison WI today. We thoroughly enjoyed your lecture and were sorry to miss you later in the day for cookies (we were still shopping).

Lori, those ice-cream cones are darling but I can’t do it when I’m in the mood for a real one haha!

Those IC cones and cupcakes are soo cute!! and love the cherries too. Question: how would you differentiate between peaches and apples? I am blessed with a large drafting table circa 1960. It is too big for house so it is in the single garage the builder lived in while doing the main house. Thus it is called “cottage” instead of garage! That table is where I do the sandwiching and quilting. To cheer up the place, I want to hang various large vase mats on the walls with a different fruit on each one. Then I can remove my cardboard lemons. Thanks…
