THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE:

Reassess your goals….

If you weren’t able to reach your goals last week, will you be able to change your schedule this week and try again?

Or do you need to make your goals a little more achievable and try again?

On the other hand, if you achieved your goals, you can either repeat them this week or add a goal.

Pink Gym Shoes

The most  important thing:  Make goals that are easily achievable!

Success leads to more success!

Let’s keep moving to keep quilting!

I missed the Derby because I was cooking dinner for company. I’m getting a lot of gardening done, which is a lot of exercise. Thanks for the inspiration

I love you moving more idea. I was already working on it and this helps motivate me. I am in remission after 6 months of chemotherapy. Doing good but always tired. I have been going to exercise 3 times per week, gradually increasing my exercise. Today I completed 3000 steps in 26 minutes on the U-step machine, then walked for 11 minutes on the treadmill. Proud of myself, now I can do some quilting this afternoon!!

Hi five! I’m up from a mile a day to two miles on each of the last seven days. A real milestone for me!

  • Vivian Lewis

HIgh Five! Thanks for getting the word out! I walked 5 miles on Sunday. Activity is great!

  • Barbara

High Five. I walked 3 miles today and 4 days last week too!

  • Hi five! I also did them all last week, but this week I need to change to 4 days of 3-4 mile walks.

High five! I did them all and enjoyed doing it to. I’ve got a list started for this week and have already started working on it. Thanks for this challenge.

  • Judy Chastain

High Five to you Lori. I’d want a high five if I won that beautiful quilt!

  • LindaArvidson

I actually exceeded my goal of walking 5 days. I did our steep hill 6 times plus shoveled dirt, pulled weeds and generally worked on the garden most of Sat. And a few hours on Sunday. This week is more of a challenge because it is raining but I will try.

High Five. Yes, I watched the Kentucky Derby–have only missed it once in the last 16 years. I also got most of my strawberry beds weeded. I even saw a few of the plants had little green berries forming already.

    High Five!

  • Nancy Sojka

High Five! I’m training for a trek on the Inca Trail, carrying a 10 lb. pack and walking up every hill I can find.

  • High 5!!!

High Five! (Nice shoes by the way!)

  • High five… Completed my gardening beds, road my stationary bike, 2 out 3 times.
    Congrats to all us quiltercisors!

    High Five

    • I posted this weeks reply on last weeks blog, Im not very savy on blogs. Well I was embarrassed at my sitting journal, I wont share, but it did make me get up and move everyday. My original goal was to walk 2 miles, 5 times last week and I walked it 7 times. i was hoping to get into the groove of moving. I was surprised I lost 2 pounds, not my goal but Ill take it!!

This week’s goal is to move faster on my 2 mile walk, I averaged 50 minutes last week,, this week I will walk that walk in 40 minutes!!

  • Jeanne

High Five to all who achieved their goals!! I fell a little short but feel like my goals are still attainable. I’m going to try it again this week. And should I fall a little short again, at least I was up and moving and improving!!!

    High five!

High Five. Although I didn’t meet my goal – I do have a great excuse 🙂 We have had three nice day’s in a row here in Scotland (almost unheard of) so I have been out in the garden working. Unfortunately today I was at work so stuck in the office for most of the day. (but did call a practice fire alarm so got to spend 10 minutes out in the sun). Now have to rush off to another ‘job’ this evening so won’t be able to enjoy the sun this evening. However off to Aviemore for two days tomorrow, which means lots of walking, cycling and hiking, yeah!

  • Eunice

Didn’t quite make the high five. Set my goals to record sedentary time and go to gym 3 days. Professional painters here 2 days so tgat was sedentary time for me.Then between rains worked in the yard, Pulling weeds and spreading mulch two days replaced my gym time.. But I least, I had some active times doing that.

  • Sue singer

I was on a cruise ship and walked up the stairs as much as posdibke.

  • High five… I made it to the gym each day that I said, weight lifting, cycling and some cardio- kick boxing. Also made time for the more unpleasant things like an annual mammo and pap. Also spent time drafting new quilts and sewing a finished design.

  • Heather Hedrick

    High five!

  • Michele

High Five -I had a really busy week, so it was not easy to find the time; twice I exercised in the evening-which I never do. I guess I actually feel a little less guilty knowing that my life is so busy. I’m going to get exercise back to mornings. Downside – no time to quilt when I wasn’t too tired. This week should be better.

  • Ellen Rittenhouse

High Five! Last week was fairly easy as I had activities that had to be completed (moving quilts from home to church). Doing that encouraged me to start some yard work that I wasn’t able to do last year. It is going well so I will continue to increase that as my ongoing goal. I even learned how to use my smart phone to help me keep track of progress! Maybe I will become smart enough to benefit from the smart phone!

  • Rose Landon

High five!! Got out this past week everyday and walked at leas 2 miles. Feel better already!!!

  • Mary C

HIGH FIVE!! I recruited some work associates to walk with me daily. Made me really get out there and move!

  • Charlo

High five! Walked 30 min. four days a week. Plus extended my terra-cotta stone patio 2 feet by 8 feet. I realize that I am seated more than half of the day but am very active going up and down stairs. My home occupies three levels with my studio on the lower and my bedroom on the upper. It’s a trip if I am on one level and realize that I need something on the opposite level. Meanwhile I will walk more and sit less.

  • High Five to both of us! I walked about 2 miles every day at our local park’s walkking trails. This was in addition to our regular half mile twice a day dog walks. My legs were sore the first two days, but now i am rolling!

  • Walking Each Day on treadmill for 30 minutes

  • doni boyd

High Five!! Thanks for getting us at least thinking about it. I added 3 1-mile walks to me week. I also do water aerobics 2x week and TaiChi 2x week. It’s a good start!

High Five – just read this was a contest – was so enamored with quilt didn’t read on. My goal that I missed was to pick out a baby quilt for a new family member. Working on it today

  • Joni Keskey

    ??

  • oh my would l love that, it matches the centerpiece on my table I leave in place for show – has 20 pink candles in antique candle holders.

  • Kristin

High five! Since I already walk daily for 3-5 miles, my challenge was to garden more and I did!

  • Rynetta Coetzee

I have been really sick for 2 weeks with an upper respiratory tract infection and still feeling on a real low, but after I read your High Five message I put on my walking shoes and went around the block once! Maybe it will be twice tomorrow 🙂

  • HIGH FIVE!!!! Every spring I have trouble getting started with riding my bike; the first few moments of each ride seem to be filled with fear. But I know that once I get started, I have a good time, with only fleeting moments of fear (like when I see gravel on the road). My goal this week was to get the bike out and ride it at least once. I did all the prep a little at a time and by Thursday I’d taken a short ride. And another one on Saturday! High Five to you for challenging us this week, and High Five to me for meeting that challenge.

  • GrannyC

    HIGH FIVE!!

  • Vincelli

Starting to walk 30 minutes 3 times a week. Also making myself get up from my chair when quilting every 25 minutes to stretch.

  • ??High five!!!!

  • Sandy S

    HIGH FIVE 🙂

  • Amy Roth

High Five! I didn’t worry too much about making note of my sedentary time. I know it’s WAY too much. But I’ll work on that this week. Maybe I’ll be surprised and learn it’s not as bad as I think! But I definitely did do more! I made several trips across campus Friday (I work at a liberal arts college) and was out and about ALL DAY Saturday. Grocery shopping, flower shopping, flower planting, weed pulling! It was beautiful weather here to be out all weekend. Still room for much more improvement. but sticking with last week’s goals for now.

  • Renee

    High five
    I have a fit bit
I dig it back out and started on my spring cleaning.
10000 steps per day is my goal.
    So far got it.

    HIGH FIVE

  • High Five. Walked on the days when it wasn’t raining. Did Jane Fonda’s CD on strength and walking one on those days. It’s amazing how much sit down time when quilting and you check it with a timer and write it down!

  • Linda

“High Five” I have been sewing and walking at Winged Deer Park.

  • Pamela

High Five!! I started a ‘couch to crossfit’ plan last week… 30 days of progressively increasing exercises. The first week was not so bad. Survived. Not too sore… This week’s plan is a little more intense. Let’s just say I would MUCH rather be sewing than doing jumping jacks. I did a fairly good job of moving more, and a fairly bad job of keeping track of sedentary time.

  • Tracy Strauch

High Five! I think I did ok with my goals. I did move a little bit more. I tracked my steps. I might not have tracked my sitting time, but I was more aware that I was sitting for too long. I decided one way to move a tiny bit more was to sew in one room and press in another room. This is a new week and I will assess and try to move more. Thanks Lori for your encouragement.

  • Fatima Lucas

HIGHFIVE! LORI, It has been a super awesome challenge and beyond! The cherry on the Sunday, literally and figuratively, was the Mother’s Day Run, watching Captain America with my son and then hiking a very steep grade to watch the beautiful sunset with PBJ’s! Beyond what I could’ve imagined! THANK YOU, and I hope that our motivation has been reverberated with everyone!
