Good Morning, Quilters, Movers and Shakers!

Did you watch the Kentucky Derby?

Or were outside gardening, walking or just moving more for #theinboxjaunts  very own Run for the Roses challenge to #losethosefatquarters!

ENTER TO WIN

Our challenge last week was threefold:

If you did those things…and reporting to the group was not mandatory….

Please give me a HIGH FIVE!!! in the comment section to enter a lottery to win the beautiful rose quilt!

WINNER WILL BE CHOSEN at 12:00 noon CST on May 10, 2016.

You can simply comment: “High Five”  or tell us what worked for YOU this week.

Rose quilt, Aurifil thread

THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE:

Reassess your goals….

If you weren’t able to reach your goals last week, will you be able to change your schedule this week and try again?

Or do you need to make your goals a little more achievable and try again?

On the other hand, if you achieved your goals, you can either repeat them this week or add a goal.

Pink Gym Shoes

The most  important thing:  Make goals that are easily achievable!

Success leads to more success!

Let’s keep moving to keep quilting!

  • HI there!! who won the drawing?

High Five Lori. MAking goals or deals with myself never works for me as the real commitment is just not there…… I need something more definitive than holding myself to account, however, I AM FINALLY GETTING THE WILLPOWER and beginning to recognize and enjoy each small accomplishment. Thank you for all the good you do for us.

  • Had to reevaluate what I could do this week due to a medical issue. Did all the exercises the dr. indicated. This week I can get back outside walking again…although a bit slower.

I walked four days in a row, climbed 6 floors of a parking garage and walked all over Waco, Tx. My feet are sore but will keep pushing on.

  • Betty

Fit-Bit! If not totally accurate…. sure helps one see that one may not be as sedentary as one thought…. at least in my case… that is so. Also motivated me to join a gym. High Five for activity.

High Five! My Fitbit has really encouraged me to get between 10,000 and 15,000 steps per week. I even walked around my kitchen island while brushing my teeth when I was 500 steps shy of 10,000 one night 😉

  • Helenanne

High five! Had too many days with too much sitting last week due to several days of car travel, nearly 1,000 miles of sitting. Did manage to get in some walks and stairs over Mothers day weekend at camp. Planning daily short walks around the neighborhood this week along with some yard work.

High Five!! I have a green house 14×14 – Busting at the seems with my seedlings, my niece’s plantings and plantings from a non profit, sometimes watering for 2 hours when it is hot so have been giving and planting tomatoes, broccoli, cabbage and petunias all week. So lots of gardening exercise – did therapy on my back in January and am continuing the exercise daily to keep strong enough to manage 5 flower and 1 big vegetable garden. Quilting is running around in my head and I signed up for another Craftsy class (what I watch when I want to relax and still learn) so now I need to take some time to quilt soon again. I finished a dimensional pinwheel table top I saw on U Tube – by Its so easy I believe- and applied a couple of your motifs. Thank You. Happy Spring, May the wind and rain quit soon and the sun return.

  • Susan Tuttle

  • Janette

I am going to say High five! Didn’t do three days of aerobics only managed one day. Along with walking 4 miles each day.Cleaned all the flower beds cut the grass and finished drywalling and painting the walls. Will get baseboards painted and up this week, and grout the floor. Lol sorry under construction. Did manage to do a little quilting between coats of paint. Yaaaaa!

  • Vikki

  • Jennifer C.

High five! Hit 10,000 steps each weekday last week.

  • Robbi

Over the weekend, quite a few things conspired to prevent me from achieving my goal of walking everyday. But I managed to make up for it today, by cleaning my entire house(that was a workout), rototilling and weeding in my garden and getting in a short walk. I think I made up for my lack of activity over the past two days.
Continuing with my goal of walking some everyday.

  • barbara woods

    High five, working hard

  • I walk a mile twice this week and also walked hills in the Smokey Mountains one day. I got cortisone shots last week and my knees feel great. I gonna walk tomorrow; thank you for the encouragement. This weeks goal, a mile walk 5 times . and maybe a reward of a fitbit.

  • Sharon

High five! I walked 5 days this week and only one day I didn’t meet my 10,000 steps and 10 flights of stairs. Great idea. We all need to move more.

  • High Five: I love having you to be accountable to. I realized this week that I live closer to my job than I realized but also that my job is less sedentary than I would have thought. I did two 2 mile walks last week in addition to the 1/2 mile to and from work I do four days a week (been doing this for years). I’m going to increase my walks to 3 miles this week.

  • Ellie

High Five. I have graduated to a walker this past week. So much better than the wheelchair. The cane is on the agenda for this week. Hooray

  • Linda

  • Vickie A

High five! I got a pedometer and have begun with a goal of 5000 steps daily and will work up to 10k a day. I’ve also begun a food diary.

  • High Five!!!!!! that’s how many days I was able to get over 10,000 steps in last week!
Feels great to move and thanks for the additional incentive with the bed of roses quilt. It would be an honor if chosen!!!!

  • Mary Grass

High Five! I have been in physical therapy for five months for a torn tendon in my shoulder. I have reached my goals every single week, not only doing the therapy but walking two miles a day as well and working out at the gym twice a week on the weight machines.

  • High Five!!! I am slowly getting back into the exercise stuff…after surgeries & radiation…I had become quite a Snail…my Oooomph has gone on vacation without me…and left me flat! lol Beginning to get glimmers of Me comin back tho! Started with raking & cleaning flower bed. Hope this counts?

  • Marta

High Five ! My doctor check up this morning showed I lost 2.4 pounds and my blood pressure was down to where it should be after being up for a month ! I am so thankful. We watched the Derby from start to Rosy Finish. Our son gave me a gorgeous vase for Mother’s Day which will hold the roses coming into bloom in our yard. Another big hit, Lori !! Thank you.
