It was so hard to pick a favorite as they are all so wonderful. However I especially liked Irish Chain, Sweet Sunshine, Swirls and Twirls, and Double Heart Leaf

  • Susan

I like all of the FMQ Tutorials. But I will choose the following three:
    Flower Power
    The Fabulous Flower
    The Picket Fence

  • I love all your tutorials! The one that I have used the most on quilts so far is the square flower. I’ve also had good luck with the double loop vine. There are many more I want to try, but these are the ones I’ve actually used on finished quilts.
I enjoy your blog and have learned so many useful things from it. Thanks for being so generous with your quilting ideas.

  • Jeanette

I like the basic leaf, the sweetheart border, and then the oak leaf. But, really, they are all nice so any you choose will look fine. I’m going to use the sweetheart border on my neices quilt I am quilting now. Thanks! Not sure if my email shows up so just in case it is jettblz8@gmail.com

  • linda-kaye

Wow, that sounds like such an easy request, but I didn’t realize there were so many to choose from. I’ve been following you for about 2 months, so it was really hard to pick just one! As for me, I would like to see Grid play featured, because I want to see more. But I’m going to practice Twisted rope, Flower power, Snowflake and puzzle.

  • Oh so exciting! I love Flower Power! So pretty!

  • I love all the patterns and you make it so easy to follow. I use these patterns for both machine and hand quilting so the one I use a lot would be Flower Power and then twested rope and the wind. However, it depends on the theme of the quilt. Really like the 3 rail set up. Thanks for the chance to win a copy of the American Quilter Magazine.

  • Any of your wonderful tutorials would be terrific for an article. I chose three, but I could easily choose six more. I love both hearts, the pinecone, and the Fleur-de-lis. I really like the flowers and the pumpkin too. See, I could go on and on. I love all of the swirls too!

  • Pam S

They are all gorgeous, but I love swirls and twirls best. Thanks for the chance to win!

  • I’ve been using The Square Flower on my current project and love it! It’s easy to scale to the required size. It fits great in the 6″ center piece of the 18″ block in my quilt.

  • Square flower & variation is/are my fave(s). They were when I first saw them!!!

  • Charlene McCullough

My favorite overall patterns are Flower Power and Grid Play. My other favorites include Extra Sweet Heart border, Fabulous Flower, Woven Cross Hatch/Orange Peel, and I love the Irish Chain. I also Love the magazine and would love to have this issue. Thanks for asking my opinion and for the giveaway.

  • Sandy, I am new to machine quilting and the Maypop leaf seems to be suited for beginners

  • Jeanne

I have 3 in my top faves. I love the spools and used them on a wall hanging. It was the perfect motif and I love them. I am planning to use the Extra Sweet Hearts in a quilt I am using now and I really love the swirls and twirls too.

  • Katherine Harrod

What an incentive to scroll all the way to see each on. And, of course, each one is as pretty or prettier than the last. That said, I’d give my vote to the double heart leaf vine. Am I the only one who chose that one? I do love heart motifs.

  • HI Lori,
Congrats on having your first article published. I looked at your tutorials and I like the Oak Leaf, the Holly Leaf and the Laypop leaf. Hope that helps.

  • Linda

I love the pumpkin and pine cone tutorials, but the ones I find the most versatile are the square flower and it’s variations, the double loop vine and flower power tutorials. I find I use them a lot…although the Maypop Leaf may be added to that list real soon. Love, love, love your tutorials!

  • Hazel Spindler

By far and away, the square garden flower. I have used it in squares and rectangles and it draws many compliments. I always refer them to your site. So happy I found you.

  • Jeannie

My favourites are spiral flower project, the tulip and the figure eight leaf and the daisy chain. I still love your other amazing works though.

  • Well I love them all, but my favorites are the pumpkin and the pinecone. I love fall and fall colors and all things fall. If I had to select one, I guess I’d choose the pumpkin. Thanks for offering the giveaway and congrats again on getting in the magazine!!

  • I agree with everyone…it’s hard to pick a favorite but I love the Flower Power and it’s variations, Swirls and Twirls, Swirling Stars, The Fabulous Flower, Fluer de lis, Open leaf and Spiral, and the Holly Leaf…I used it on so many Christmas presenst this year along with your other Christmasy designs. Thanks for the chance to win…too fun!
I’m still doing PT…I got scolded today for vacuuming and mopping wrong LOL!…maybe I can convince the insurance company I need a maid (!!!) cuz cleaning is hurting my back. (heehee)

  • Susan Reid

I am new to machine quilting so I looked at the tutorials to see which made sense to me … and seemed to be within my abilities. I loved Swirls and Twirls, Sweet Sunshine, Diamonds are Forever, and (for the future) Maypop Leaf.

  • annieofbluegables

I meant to say “swirls and twirls”. Not “world”because of the fancy border work. ~a

  • annieofbluegables

I love all of them, but my most favorites are grid play because it’s overall design the symmetry, flower power because I’m hippie at heart, extra sweet heart border, because I love hearts, swirls and world because of the fancy border work, and the pinecone, that’s just beautiful!!! I love a chance to win the magazine thank you. ~a

  • Flower power is so versatile, so it’s my favorite, but I like the twisted rope too.

  • Renata

diamonds, grid play, square flower and nikki’s puzzle and circles. I plan on using circles soon.

  • Phyllis

The three I like are the Irish Chain, Wind, Umbrella. Lori, that was a difficult decision since all are beautiful and some day hope to master them. Would love to receive this magazine as a gift. Congratulations on your debut with this magazine.

  • All of the quilting is beautiful, but my favorite ones, in no particular order are Daisy Chain, Snow Flakes and the puzzle piece one. Thanks!

  • Vera Thompson

This was a hard decision between the leaf design and the pinecone. Congratulations. The pinecone is something I have not seen anywhere else, so that is the one i choose. Thank you for giving away a copy of the magazine and I hope I get one.

  • Lori, congrats on the magazine column. I have used the square flower motif just recently and LOVE it. I think the thread and spool is adorable but haven’t found a place for it…yet! They are all marvelous and choosing favorites is difficult. I may be a “no reply” blogger so I’m including my email address just in case it shows up tht way for you. marsha(dot)hodgkins@yahoo(dot)com
Thanks so much for so many fabulous tutorials!
    Marsha

  • Sandy

There are so many designs to choose from. I believe it depends on what you want to use the design for, how you want it incorporated onto your quilt. I would like to see the quilt and suggestions on which design can be used.

  • I like the Snowflake tutorial because it uses short straight lines and its construction is clever.

  • Sarah

I really like the Fleur de Lies, but there are so many beautiful ones.

  • Karen K.

There are so many choices! I love both of the borders with hearts, the Basic Spiral, the Twist and the Twisted Rope. I know you asked for one but it’s too hard to choose! Thanks so much for them and congratulations on the column!

  • Carol

I think my favorite right now is the double loop vine. I just used it in the sashings around some blocks in a quilt I just finished quilting. (Yea for me!) But I’ve also used the flower one in the corners and I’ve used the sailboat in a baby quilt. Next week I’ll have a new favorite! Thanks for all you do.

  • I do love all of your beautiful designs! I hope to someday do Square Flower, Easter Egg, and The Perfect Pumpkin.

  • I like the leaf and the square flower design because they can be utilized in many different ways. Love this site and so happy that others will see in on the printed page

  • Joy F

It’s difficult to pick the best, so I’ll tell you which ones I’ve used. The Square Flower and it’s variations, the wind and braided wheat. I love the leaves as well, but the shape eludes me. Back to paper and pencil. Thank you Lori.

  • flower power is very forgiving for this newbie!! Roxanna

  • I really like flower power and squiggly square and the daisy chain… I appreciate all of them just have to summon up the courage to jump in and try them all.

  • Nadine Vining

Hard to choose a favorite. I used swirling stars on a Christmas quilt. But I love swirls and twirls too. Thanks for all you do.

  • Mary hill

I agree with Judy Tucker! How about a book of all your designs

  • billiemick

The perfect pumpkin and the wind.

  • I’m brand new to your blog and it was hard to choose. I found nine that I liked, but in order to help with your magazine article here are the top three: extra-sweet heart border, straight line variations, woven cross hatch. Oh, and thanks for the spider web. I made a spider web quilt and was looking for something to quilt in the blank space. I was so excited about your design and, if I can master it, I’m using it on my quilt.

  • It’s so hard to pick a favorite design. But I think my favorite is flower power. I have used it on two quilts and love it!

  • Piggly Wiggly Quilts

Ms. Kennedy….you are too good to just pick ‘one’ of your tutorials! I have learned so much from you. I work on a 20 yr old Gammill that a friend has, not even my own. It has been wonderful to take my Ipad and practice your tutorials. I really like the borders, The Wind and Fabulous Flower Border and the Irish Chain. Yet, what I appreciate most are your teaching of registration lines to follow for our work. Just reading how you do things inspires me! Thank you so much!

  • Braided wheat but I LOVE THEM ALL

  • Bonnie

My favorite are flower power, daisy chain, and Irish chain.

  • Lisa Clark

Flower Power is my favorite then twirling stars. My favorite holiday one was the pumpkin.

  • Kaye M.

I found the Basic Leaf design from last Halloween to be very helpful. It looks complicated but when you draw the rails to use as reference points and show us step by step it really makes sense! Thanks for your great tutorials.
