  • After stitching in the ditch for many baby blankets, I need to move on. This inspires me to get out my fears and try some of the moves. Heaven knows I have a nice enough sewing machine to do it. Thank you.

  • Allison D

All of your tutorials are seriously amazing! Two that I have done and really liked are Daisy Chain and Double Loop Vine. Thanks~

  • Jen B

I really like the swirling star tutorial. I tried free motion quilting for the first time 3 days ago and will definitely be trying some of your wonderful designs.

  • Stoney Monte

Flower power, Square flower and Picket fence are three I’ve used and like very much. But I need to try a few more and am waiting for just the right quilt to come along. I appreciate so very much your photos that break down each step of the design. When I came across your blog, I finally began to believe that I could do FMQ. You were the perfect teacher for me!!

So many choices… I love the circles although I know that others would be easier.

  • Susan Winter

Oh my goodness. I love them all, but plan on using square flowers in my next project

  • Ashley T.

My favorites are the picot-edged ribbon, the loopy leaf, and lots of spirals!

  • Regina D.

Absolutely love the daisy chain pattern. Have always loved daisy’s and it’s a flower I doodle with all the time. Thanks so much for your inspiration and sharing your talent! Being new to FMQ, your tutorials are a wonderful way to learn different patterns.

  • Peggy in AZ

Wow! It is hard to choose!!! I like
    Easiest flower and variations
    Open leaf with spirals
    Flower power
So glad more quilters will benefit from you talent !

  • I love the square flower but this was really difficult to decide on one pattern. I think about making a sampler with some of your patterns. And I would love to win a magazine but I am not sure if you will mail to Germany.

  • Barbara

Nikkie’s Puzzle is one of my favorites due to it’s simplicity. It’s perfect for all the kiddie quilts I love to make.

  • Paula

I couldn’t pick just one! They are all so pretty! Here are my favorites (in no particular order): Fleur di les, Irish chain, and the spiral heart border. I’ve used the spiral heart border on my longarm for several customer quilts and they always like it!

  • Verna

I really like Flower Power, but my favorite is the one that led me to your blog, Nikki’s Puzzle.

  • LindaG

Your designs and instructions are wonderful! As a longarmer, I especially like Diamonds Are Forever, Grid Play and Swirls and Twirls.

  • Amy Neuenschwander

Oooooh! This is so hard! I’m new to this & want to do them all! But, I have to start somewhere, sew…The Fabulous Flower, the Picket Fence, the Tulip & the Figure Eight Leaf.

  • Karen Misner

Love them all, but I especially like Twisted Rope and the Sweethart Border.

  • Donna W

Thanks you for your great tutorials. They have been such a great help. Finding favorites is hard, but I guess I would pick Daisy Chain, Flower Power, and Spools

  • Diane

They are wonderful. I love your oak leaf and straight line variations. Thanks for sharing

  • MoeWest

I like The Wind, The Easiest Flower and Spiral Flower.

  • cdahlgren2013

Love Sweet Sunshine, but really like many of them. I signed up to follow you by email, I’m so impressed.

  • I enjoy your tutorials. I have not yet attempted free motion quilting so I m afraid I can’t be any help to you

  • barbara woods

I love the Irish chain, thanks

  • Barbara Williams

Because I am just starting to machine quilt I like the daisy chain, but truth be told I love them all and look forward to gaining the skill to do all of them!

  • Very difficult your request. All designs are very useful and good ….
Some by choice after much thought:
    The Irish Chain
    The Pretty Bow
    The Square Flower and Variations
The latter two used them in a mug rug.

  • I like the daisy chain (because I can actually do that one and did it on my very first quilt). Next I am going to try Nikki’s Puzzle Pieces. Finally, The Windowsill Garden because I have practiced that on a qulit sandwich and think I can do that one too on a real project. I love your blog–it gives me so much encouragement.

  • My favorites are:
    1. The Sailboat
    2. The Daisy Chain
    3.The Twist

  • I really like the open leaf and the variations of it. Thank for all of the great tutorials. I can’t wait to try some of them. Take care and God bless, Cory

  • Michele Timms

Your stitching is incredible!!! I would love to master this technique… But I’ve got a long way to go!
    My favorites are:
    1. Squiggle Square
    2. Braided Wheat
    3. Small Open Leaf

  • I love so many, but these especially: open leaf, basic leaf, and swirly stars.

  • Kathy h

I am so glad I found all of your tutorials. My favorites are swirls and twirls, holly leaf and Irish chain.

  • All your designs are wonderful. I especially like Square Flower, The Windowsill Garden, and Irish Chain.

  • Leslie Schmidt

I think the ones I like best are the Irish Chain (my favorite,) the Tulip and Figure-8 Leaf, and The Wind. But of course, they all are good.

  • Donna

I really like the spool (for using on gifts for quilting friends!), the pinecone, and the puzzle. :c)

  • I like all your tutorials but the pinecone is one of my favorites. Thanks for the giveaway.

  • Jane Grant

I love your floral and leaf designs best. Mine aren’t nearly as elaborate as yours but I just do basic parts.

  • So many choices. I think for starters I’d choose lots of spirals. This seems a good way to gain flexibility and spontaneity in my quilting. What I really love is the combining of motifs and fills, such as you use in the picture heading your blog!

  • susanmp14

Wow, so many wonderful designs to choose from. My favorites are Sweet Sunshine, Flower Variation, The Oak Leaf and The Lollipop Flower. I have tried Sweet Sunshine on some mug rugs I made. They didn’t look as good as yours, but I was getting better by the 5th one. Thanks for the giveaway.

  • Susan Stanton

All of your designs are wonderful so it is hard to choose. I like The Perfect Pumpkin and The Spider Web. They are two of my favorites!

  • Melissa Lamb

I like so many it is hard to choose. The swirling star is my favorite.

  • Helen

For the many kids’ charity quilts that I do, Nikki’s Puzzle looks to be a great FMQ…and here I was thinking that this would take some time to do each box. But you are so smart to have simplified the process. Love it! I will try it. I also like Flower Power for the all-over look.

  • Janie

Grid play. All of the designs are amazing. You are very talented. Thanks for the giveaway.

  • Quilting Tangent

Would help, if you said to click on the picture of the design to get to the tutorials. I like the Irish chain, pumpkin and spiderweb. Your other designs are interesting as well.

  • Your designs are all beautiful;
so hard to pick but I do like the basic leaf for a border and the picket fence is enchanting.

  • Geraldine Van de Kleut

Lori, I spent Saturday quilting the square flower into my niece’s quilt, and the squares are just beautiful. My favourite–and the only one I’ve done so far. But there will be more. Thanks for your wonderful tutorials.

  • I love both the Irish Chain and Flower Power equally!

  • Chris

Irish Chain, Grid Play and Swirls and Twirls but it is very hard because they are all good for different quilts and of course they are all wonderful anyway.

  • So very exciting. And I’m so happy for you and proud of you, at the same time.

You have written so many wonderful tutorials, and are so talented, I’m sure what ever you publish in future magazine issues will be wonderful. And, what ever I share you have probably already thought of, but here goes:

    – think of some seasonal articles, such as showcasing designs like your Pinecone tutorial
    – easy FMQ designs such as your Braided Wheat, Twisted Rope,
    – intermediate FMQ designs such as Straight Line Variations, the Twist, Basic Spiral,
    – advanced FMQ designs such as Open Leaf, Swirls and Twirls

Maybe rotating articles that are beg-intermediate-advanced will keep quilters of all levels intrigued.

I also think articles showing planning a quilt for FMQ would be good. For example, how would you quilt a hexie quilt that used batiks? I’m inclined to think you wouldn’t want to do too much FMQ on a batik that wouldn’t show off the design, due to the impact of the fabric. On the other hand, you may have some wonderful ideas….and I’d certainly want to learn…..

My favorite is your Lollipop Flower. I just used it in a quilt. I’d also like to make the lollipop flower quilt. I don’t know how you come up with so many motifs but I’m happy you do!

  • Lori, I love your fleur de lis design. I’ve used it a number on times on narrow borders and just think it is beautiful. I like both the basic and Deluxe Fleur de lis are amazing. I’m so glad I found your blog. I follow you almost every day.

  • My fav is the Square Flower…I’ve been practicing it a lot, I have a quilt it will be perfect for.
