Free Motion Quilting Video-The Cabin in the Woods

December 18, 2017

Good Morning, Quilters!

Just a quick hello this morning to let you know that I have a tutorial at BERNINA’s WeAllSew blog.

The tutorial is for this Cabin in the Woods motif which would look fabulous on the border of a quilt, the edge of a table runner or even on a tea towel!

It’s fast and easy and it includes a VIDEO of me stitching away!

Free Motion Quilting, Trees

Hope your day is filled with warmth!

Lori

The cabin and trees are so darling, so will start to practice now so that I can put this on a quilt I’m finishing up! Love the modern take on your motifs.

The cabin and trees are sooo cute. I’m new to quilting and couldn’t wait to start doing free motion quilting. Your designs are so inspiring. I have your craftsy classes and your book. Thank you for the lovely note inside and the beautiful book mark. I am so excited to see that you will have another book coming out soon. I can hardly wait! May you and your family have a blessed holiday.

I love your cabin in the woods. My question is this…what kind of needle do you use when you free motion quilt? Such as universal, microtex, etc. What size needle do you use? What did you learn on such as ten inch quilt sandwiches? I have tried to do free motion quilt and cannot get the hang of it. Any tips would greatly be appreciated. TIA

I use a Topstitch 90 and 40 wt Sulky Rayon or 28 wt Aurifil cotton thread. Read through the blog for tons of tips and my book and Craftsy videos are full of tips.
