    Week end. Love it

  • Daisy Robinson: Seems like a lot of food, when you think they’re all in mourning.
Mrs. Patmore: Nothin’ makes you hungrier or more tired than grief. When my sister died, god rest her soul, I ate my way through four platefuls of sandwiches at one sitting and slept round the clock.
Daisy Robinson: Did it make you feel better?
Mrs. Patmore: Not much, but it passed the time

  • The business of life is the acquisition of memories.” Classic! Thanks for sharing your win!!

  • The business of life is the acquisition of memories.

  • Wow what a great giveaway. I am not good at quotes but I am always “sewing it up.”

  • “Principles are like prayers, noble, of course, but awkward at a party.”

  • If you must pay money, better to a doctor than an undertaker ….

  • Ronna Serota

“vulgarity is no substitute for wit.” Thanks for sharing your good fortune!

  • I loved Carson – all of his curmudgeonly statements were so apropos for his character. And also to Dowager Countess. It was a great series.

  • Lucinda Williams

Violet: “You are quite wonderful the way you see room for improvement wherever you look. I never knew such reforming zeal.” Isobel: “I take that as a compliment.” Violet: “I must’ve said it wrong.” (Season 1)

  • Joanne

Matthew: I can never be happy with anyone else as long as you walked the earth. #MatthewCrawley #DowntonAbbey

My husband and I like to go fishing. I liked the one “At least I’m not fishing with no bait”! Also, when I was in Red Hat Ladies my name was Lady Quiltmore – and This Thursday is my birthday!

I have many quotes that I love.
My favorite thing of the whole series is the relationship between Violet and Isobel.
    Thanks for the opportunity.

  • Darcey

I’m a woman, Mary. I can be as contrary as I please. Fab quote by the dowager countess. How can you not love her!

  • My favorite character was the Lady Violet- it’s impossible to find only one but I did like the one about “at my age one must ration one’s excitement, in the final episode there was also too many to count zingers aimed at Dickie’s new daughter in law.(like “I’m a tough nut cracker” to Lady Crawley) Loved that !. And of course when she says back a few seasons that her job as a Grandmother is to interfere. I could go on but you did say one.

  • I was just reading some of the other comments- I guess there are just so many, many good quotes. I kept saying to myself “oh yes that one too”. I was also remiss in not saying thank you for this wonderful give a way as well as the chance to share our fav quotes.

  • Joan Liboiron

I never watched the series but my favorite sewing quote is “I cannot count my day complete ’til needle, thread and fabric meet.” Thanks for sharing all that you do Lori.

  • Debbie Kelley

Violet:”I’m not a romantic, but even I concede that the heart does not exist solely for the purpose to pump blood.” I think Violet is a romantic!!! Will miss the show a lot!!!

Have not been able to watch this TV show, have heard lots about it, and have seen some of the beautiful fabric that has arisen as a result of the show. Beautiful!

It’s good to be in love, whatever age. Another from Violet. So true.

A stitch in time saves nine!

All good things must come to an end

  • lavonne

    Lady Grantham,
“Of course it would happen to a foreigner. No Englishman would dream of dying in someone else’s house.” Had me on the floor.

  • I am so thrilled about this giveaway! ….and that YOU are a Crawley….lol….I love the Dowager Countess…..I often thought during the series…. “What would Violet do? ( or say, or think….)”…..One of my favorite quotes was…”I am a WOMAN, Mary….I can be as contrary as I choose.”

  • Julie

“I know how you hate to be wrong”….”I wouldn’t know, I’ve never felt the sensation.”
