  • Karrie Pennington

“You can always hold my hand if you need to feel steady” was remarkably romantic yt to me. Thanks for sharing.

  • Joanne Moore

“Vulgarity is no substitue for wit” Dowager Countess. I am SOOO tired of the common use of certain vulgar 4 letter words….go get ’em Violet! Will miss this show terribly! Time to start watching it from the beginning!

  • Linda Copas

“Oh, so this is the new servants’ hall! I wonder what happened to the old one?”
I love the Downton Abbey fabric. Thank you for the give away.

  • Janie

The quote that I have chosen is…
“At least I’m not fishing with no bait” Ha

  • Elaine Seigal

“An aristocrat without money is as useless as a glass hammer.”

  • Kathy

If reason fails, try force. Dowager Countess

  • Jackie B

Isabel asks how she and Violet should address one another….Violet: “How about Mrs. Crawley and Lady Grantham?”

  • Melody Lutz

In modern time-I always feel this way too: “What is a Week End” ?

  • Just one quote?? There were so many wonderful lines in that show. One of my favourites was Violet’s reaction to electricity:
“I couldn’t have electricity in the house, I wouldn’t sleep a wink. All those vapours floating about.”

    Fabulous giveaway!

  • Christine Wellhausen

    Lady Grantham:

“I’m a woman, Mary. I can be as contrary as I choose.”

  • Violet’s comment “It’s true I think a woman’s place is eventually in the home, but there isn’t much harm in her having some fun before she gets there.
    Thanks for the give away.

  • Ann M

Tough to pick one. Most quips from Violet or Mrs. Patmos are treasures. So, one favorite is “its the job of Grandmother’s to interfere”. Thank-you for sharing you fabric win.

  • Verna

Violet: “I’m not a romantic, but even I concede that the heart does not exist solely for the purpose to pump blood.”

  • How cool that your maiden name is Crawley! And how generous of you to share your fabric. My favorite quote is from the eminently quotable Dame Maggie Smith as Violet: “It’s the job of grandmothers to interfere.”

    PS Yes, I am a grandma 😉

  • Janet B

Mrs. Patmore – Sympathy butters no parsnips!

  • Jollyne Toste

  • lavonne

  • Joan Liboiron

I never watched the series but my favorite sewing quote is “I cannot count my day complete ’til needle, thread and fabric meet.” Thanks for sharing all that you do Lori.

  • I was just reading some of the other comments- I guess there are just so many, many good quotes. I kept saying to myself “oh yes that one too”. I was also remiss in not saying thank you for this wonderful give a way as well as the chance to share our fav quotes.

  • My favorite character was the Lady Violet- it’s impossible to find only one but I did like the one about “at my age one must ration one’s excitement, in the final episode there was also too many to count zingers aimed at Dickie’s new daughter in law.(like “I’m a tough nut cracker” to Lady Crawley) Loved that !. And of course when she says back a few seasons that her job as a Grandmother is to interfere. I could go on but you did say one.

  • Darcey

I’m a woman, Mary. I can be as contrary as I please. Fab quote by the dowager countess. How can you not love her!
