    “What’s a weekend?”

  • Floy Heidenreich

I have never watched the show. Maybe someday on Netflix I will “binge watch” it. So My favorite sewing quote is “Finished is better than perfect” We put so much pressure on ourselves to make ‘the perfect quilt’ that sometimes we never finish or perhaps even attempt making them. Just enjoy the journey.

  • Brenda

I truely have never watched Downton Abbey, so I offer the ancient “a journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.”

  • Karen

“You are quite wonderful the way you see room for improvement wherever you look. I never knew such reforming zeal.” Isobel: “I take that as a compliment.” Violet: “I must’ve said it wrong.”

  • Lady Mary- a monkey could type out the bible if you let it.

  • Of course it would happen to a foreigher. No englishman would dream of dying in someone else’s house 🙂

  • Sandy

“The business of life is the acquisition of memories”. ?

  • Jan Rogers

The Dowager…of course…”Sometimes it’s good to rule by fear.”. Great idea for a contest!

  • Claudia

It’s the job of Grandmother’s to interfere!

  • Cheri Barker

    Being retired…”What is a weekend?”

  • “At my age, one must ration ones excitement”! She sure has so many witty and funny lines.

  • Louise

I have to agree with Suellen, “Does it ever get cold on the moral high ground?”

  • Judy Donnelly

I can’t remember the exact quote but it was last night!! “As Papa used to say,”If _____ fails to work, use force.”

I am sort of sweetly melancholy this am… Happy that everyone at Downton has a positive future, but sad that I won’t be part of it.

  • Renee Z.

when reason fails, use force! Yup, Dowager Violet from last night’s finale.

  • “We’ll all need our smelling salts in a minute.” Thanks for the chance to win!

  • Karyn Marshall

So sad the show is over and I will never forget one quote, “What is a weekend?” There are so many great quotes. I am taking a Downton Abbey quilt class and can’t wait. What a great way to end an incredible show.

  • Cathy

“What’s a weekend?” Thanks for the give away!

Stop whining and find something else to do.

  • Mary can be such a child. She thinks when you put a toy down, it’ll still be sitting there when you want to play wit it again. .by Robert, Earl of Grantham

Lord Crawley to Matthew; “We all have our part to play”, while they were discussing Matthews desire to do without having a valet, and in the bigger pictures of country life, that would be denying a man his job and opportunity in life….

  • “What is a weekend?”

  • Valerie soltis

“Im a woman, Mary. I can be as contrary as I choose.”

“I do think a woman’s place is eventually in the home, but I see no harm in her having some fun before she gets there.”

  • judy parsons

Don’t remember exact wording but it is when Mr. Barrows is asked to come back to be butler and they say the old guard (Carson) will still be there. Cried

  • “Never you mind. We’re sisters and sisters have secrets.” Loved this quote because it signified to me that Mary finally “gets” being a sister, being part of that special group!

Wasn’t the final episode just perfect? I love happy endings.

  • Sandy Johnson

I would have to say “What’s a weekend?” I am a wife of a retired dairy farmer and have a cake decorating business. Cows don’t take weekends off and most people need fancy cakes on the weekends! Thank you for the generous giveaway!c

  • Retta H.

Lady Mary announces “I’m going upstairs to take off my hat.” as if it was a major event of her day.

  • Violet: “I am never wrong.”

  • Being a dairy farmer’s wife and often inwardly bristling when people wished me a good weekend, I smiled when the Dowager asked, “What’s a weekend?”
