Dandelion Quilt

April 8, 2015

Dandelion QuiltOnce I got going with the dandelion motif, (See Tuesday’s Tutorial:  The Dandelion)  I just couldn’t stop!

Dandelion QuiltI planned to fill this in with heavy quilting (like the Quilted Notions)…though now that I see it on my computer, I’m not so sure.  Maybe, I’ll make this both ways…with heavy quilting and without so we can do side-by-side comparisons…

Dandelion QuiltI’m always telling YOU to do samples…I guess this is my chance to do some!

What about YOU?  Have you done any quilted gardening yet?

TOMORROW–We will be continuing our Doodle Lessons…Have you been doodling?  Time to make a new habit!

Lori

PS…This quilt was stitched on my BERNINA 820 with Superior’s Magnifico trilobal polyester on top and Aurifil cotton in the bobbin.  Kaufman Kona fabric and Warm and Natural cotton batting.

With the single lines of the stems of the “flowers” I think the stems will be lost in the heavy background quilting

If you did do some more quilting on it, what about matching thread to the fabric? Or using monofilament thread? So the extra quilting does not crowd the design you have going?

Another option. Another sample! You’ve just doubled my work! But I think it’s worth seeing all ways!

Both of the above thoughts echo my initial impressions. That is a totally delightful motif……light, airy and fresh. Matching the thread to the background or clear wouldn’t take away from this feeling but may give it the dimension that we’re used to seeing (and really are liking!) these days with the various background fills. You are one creatively talented gal!!!!!!!!

It looks like a complete design to me. Maybe if you put a spiky bloom in the center?

I love your phrase, “quilted gardening”. Made me smile. 🙂

Why not just put the sunshine or a couple of butterflies in the center? Love this design!
