Today is your lucky day! On newsstands now the September edition of American Quilter Magazine and it’s loaded with lots of good stuff.

(In an upcoming post, I’ll show you my Freddy Moran inspired quilt–it’s over 10 years old and still much-loved!
Last time we had winners from all over the world…a little “quilting-ambassadorship”…

What are your favorite motifs?… OR
What motifs would YOU like to see in free motion quilting?
I will choose three winners at random. Winners announced on Monday, September 1.
Good Luck,
Lori
I love all your motifs. My favorite one is the swirling daisies.
I think your swirling stars are my favorite. I just love the designs you share with us!
I feel like I have a new favorite each Tuesday when you post them!
Swirling stars-fav today!
My favorite motifs are anything swirly and circular! I would love to see anything and everything new you come up with. I am loving it all!
I love your blog and look forward to it every day, it’s very inspirational. It’s hard to pick my favourite design, each new one becomes a favourite! I’d love to see some cat designs – I’ve just acquired two adorable feline companions.
I’m in awe of your generosity in sharing your designs and your time with your readers – thank you very much, I really appreciate it!
Happy Labour Day weekend to you and all your readers!
Desired motifs?
Something with a ranching flair. My sisters and I all married local ranchers. My husband and I now own what was my paternal grandmother’s homestead. She was a Swedish immagrant and died early January 1925, just 16 days before my dad’s 11th birthday leaving 6 young children and a bereaved husband to continue on with the ranch. As you might guess, girl gifts in our family are anything but “girly,” so would like some inspiration for western/cowboy motifs.
I really like how you put designs together and flow from one to the next. As a perfectionist to a fault, I obsess over this or that line not being “just right and how do I get to the next one?,” but I can see by your examples that in the finished project, they just all blend together and one doesn’t notice each individual for singular critique. That alone has given me hope to bravely try FMQ as soon as I get a chance.
Anything with lots of swirls and round edges.
Love feathers and swirling things.
Stars, seashells, and motion that looks like ice skating!
I love leaves!
I think all you motifs are great, I am just starting free motion so my favorite right now is the wave since the quilt I will be working on is sea themed.
I enjoyed the square flowers on a recent project! I like the designs that can swirl and cover an area with lovely stitching–not necessarily pictures of things. I love the MS Barb idea (previous reply) about motions that look like ice skating! That is a good image!
Do you mark your designs on the quilts or is it as you create. I am fascinated by your designs. I do not own a longarm so I try to repeat these designs. I continually strive to get these intricate patterns. I like what I do but it is not top notch. My opinion
I like each motif you design…mostly the step by step construction which makes it so easy to follow. Every morning I can’t wait to see what you’ve come up with next!!
I really appreciate the pumpkin motif. It shows how to get deep contrasts between the design and the backgrounds. Its a bit like counterpoint of a musical score. Thanks
I love all of your motifs. My favorite is the Dizzy Daisy and any feathers. Thank you so much for all you do for us!
