Which Foot? A Machine Quilting Quick Tip

Cross Stitch Baby Quilt

Good Morning, Quilters!

For most of my quilting, my favorite BERNINA foot is the #24 Free Motion Embroider foot.  I like it because it is open-toed and off set which allows the greatest visibility.

However, when stitching around this cross-stitch blanket,  the open toe acted like a hook–frequently getting caught in the stitches!

Machine Quilting Presser Feet

I found the #9 Darning Foot worked much better on this quilt.

I also use the #9 foot when I am stitching around hand appliqué–as the #24 foot tends to hook itself into appliqué as well.

So if YOU are getting “hooked” on quilted embellishments–try a closed foot instead.

Be sure to check out your local BERNINA dealer for the Foot of the Month–the February special is the Needle Punch Set…

Squeal-squeal!
