The Splendid Sampler–Catching Up

Splendid Sampler

Good Morning, Quilters!

Have YOU been keeping up with the free blocks offered for The Splendid Sampler 2?

This is the fifth week-(Read about my organization tips HERE) – and I was already behind, but I’m caught up now!

This week’s block is called Point Taken by Susan Ache, author of Start with Strips

There are 32 pieces in this six-inch block!

I used my small OLFA cutter (love the snap on blade) to cut the small pieces.

After stitching the triangles, draw a diagonal stitching line across the small center squares.  It’s easier to do this if you have fine grit sandpaper–or if you can’t find yours–ahem–place the squares on a textured paper or even your cutting board–something that isn’t too smooth.

Line the small squares on top and stitch along the line.  Do you see the mistake I almost made below???

Be sure to line the small squares on the correct triangle!Splendid Sampler 2, Points Taken, Lori Kennedy

Precision piecing is not my speciality–so this is “PERFECT”!!!

WHICH IS MY BLOCK???

I’m one of the designers for The Splendid Sampler 2–and my block made the cover!  Only one person so far has guessed which is my block!! Can YOU guess?

WHAT’S YOUR SPECIALTY?

I’m really enjoying the variety of techniques used in the Splendid Sampler 2.  It’s definitely not a beginner’s quilt, but it is a great refresher course for applique, embroidery, precision piecing and color theory!

As I go along, I am thinking about how to quilt each block…more on that soon!

What about YOU?

Are YOU stitching The Splendid Sampler 2?

Do YOU have a favorite technique?

Is there a technique you could use a little help with?

We’d LOVE to hear!

Happy Quilt Cross Training!

Where o where has my little sandpaper gone oh where oh where could it be!?

Good thing I’m not a shepherd!
