Good Morning, Quilters!
I’m delighted to present The Inbox Quilt Show! Thank you to all who sent photos of quilts using motifs from our extensive FREE Machine Quilting Library HERE. There are more than 100 motifs in the collection–and 60 have been chosen for publication by Martingale–Spring 2017!

Oh, one more thing- how in the world did Christine get that quilt to look so three dimensional? The cross hatch with the swirls – does it just do that on its own, or did you do something special – that is so amazing! I just love these postings!

I just love Kathleen’s quilt! I am using the square flower on my long arm machine, and it is fun- but I like her version with the bigger swirls to start it off. Pics will follow when I get it done! Thanks for all your tutorials- I have been using various versions of your designs in my quilt, but your blog has inspired me to design my own, too! Thanks again!

It was fun to see what everyone is quilting! I loved what everyone has done but was particularly drawn to Kathleen’s very pretty quilt…. so cheerful!

These are great! One thing I would like to suggest to people is that, if you have the chance to go to a local quilt show, do it, and look closely at the quilting. I did that this weekend, and found that some of the most beautiful quilting, when looked at closely, isn’t as perfect as I thought! There are uneven stitch lengths, and even some bobbles.
I am not trying to be critical of people’s hard work, but I do want to point out that the quilting looks lovely, even professional, when it’s hanging on the wall or laying on the bed the way people normally look at it. We are aware of mistakes because we made them, and we are looking closely at our work as it flows through the machine or as we are binding.
But for the most part, people don’t examine our work with a magnifying glass–instead, they are in awe that we created such a beautiful thing. And any imperfections actually add to its beauty, because it reminds the observer that this quilt was made by human hands, not a machine.
When I realized this, it made me admire those women (and a couple of men) who had the courage to exhibit their work even though it wasn’t “perfect–” but it IS perfectly lovely! It was finished! Plus, he/she can say they did the quilt from start to finish themselves. Unless you want to exhibit quilts in national-level, juried shows, it doesn’t HAVE to be! Perfection is highly overrated.
….now, off to find or take a picture of something I have quilted, so I can send it for posting here!

Thank you, Ellen! I agree entirely–perfection is over-rated. There is no such thing as perfect machine quilting!
