CUTE AS A BUTTON QUILT TUTORIAL
The Button – We won’t say it’s “advanced”–
Let’s just say, “it’s an opportunity to slow-down”…
You probably won’t want to cover a whole quilt in Buttons…however, it does look great in small quantities!
To create a row of Buttons, begin by drawing two parallel lines of any width. In the sample below, the lines are one inch apart.
Begin sewing in between the two rows. Stitch a clockwise circle, leaving a slight gap…
Echo stitch, counter-clockwise…
Stitch a small circle–1-1/2 revolutions-then stitch a small “dash”…
Add another small circle…
Retrace the “dash” to the center, add another dash and small circle…
Retrace, then add a final dash and a circle…
Then stitch out of the Button to begin another…
You can make this easier by adding just one set of “holes” or by stitching and “X” in the center.
Either way…It’s CUTE AS A BUTTON!
Happy (Button) Stitching,
Lori
PS…This tutorial was stitched on Robert Kaufman, Kona cotton with Sulky 40wt Rayon on top and Aurifil Cotton 50 wt in the bobbin using a Topstitch 90 needle on my BERNINA 770QE (LOVE!) without a stitch regulator.
