The BEST Machine Quilting Resource!

Lori Kennedy Quilts

Good Afternoon, Quilters!

It’s been a busy month as Faye, Nora and I put the final labels on all the photos, motifs, and posts for the BIG MOVE!

Our goal is to make Lori Kennedy Quilts THE BEST Machine Quilting Resource for motifs, supplies, inspiration and education. The BIG MOVE was necessary to create a site that is more user friendly.

But as anyone who has ever moved from one house to another knows…

MOVING IS CHALLENGING!

Moving a blog is a lot like moving cross country from one house to a bigger house, only in this case, EVERY item needs a label. You can’t just get away with crates marked “MISC”!

A BLOG STYLE FENDER BENDER

We started the move last week, but several of our boxes fell off the moving truck.  Now we are half in our new location and half still at The Inbox Jaunt. Consequently, some functions are not working properly.  For example, links from Pinterest are not working correctly right now.  We have a service on the way–in the form of developers from Lifted Logic.  We are in the queue, and the links should be fixed by early next week.

In the meantime, we are rearranging our “furniture” in our new house.  It will take awhile to find the proper home for all our beautiful things.

The MOTIF ROOM

Our first priority is setting up the Motif categories so you can have easy and more organized access.  You can choose motifs by category now. Ten motifs will load at a time, then you can load ten more.  If you prefer, you can scroll the motifs from the top, “All” category.  If you are looking for flowers and leaves, skip down…If you need an umbrella, look in “Illustrations”.

One thing to note, some of the photos do not match the name of the tutorial–this happens when we missed a label on a tutorial.  We will work to correct those over time, but for now, the written description is more important than the photo.

The SHOP

One of our other priorities was to set up a shop with links to our favorite products. Part of learning to machine quilt is finding the right supplies.  I am happy to share with you the materials that have been most helpful to me. The Shop will grow over time and I hope it will be a great resource to readers.

The ABOUT PAGE

There’s an all new “About” page…considered necessary in the blogosphere. It contains all of the relevant links, including several links to free Webinars, Podcasts, and projects.

EXCITED BUT IMPATIENT

We are very excited about our new home, and looking forward to the day when all of our “furniture” is arranged properly and we feel settled again. Once we  find all the silverware, we’ll host a huge celebration–with giveaways and prizes!

Until then, I hope YOU like the new “digs”!

What about YOU?

Have YOU ever moved?

Was it exciting? Terrifying? Smooth? Bumpy?

We’d LOVE to hear!

Signed,

YOUR Happy but Tired Bloggers,

Lori, Nora and Faye!

Lori, you and your daughters are working soooo hard to help all of us free motion quilters! We really appreciate all your efforts. Thank you all, so much and best of luck with this endeavor!!

Just saw your site. Looking forward to seeing all you have. I’m new to machine quilting but look forward to learning.

  • Becky Shaffer

The new site looks great, Lori! It’s worth the wait. All of your hard work has paid off! I’m looking forward to see all that you will be sharing!

Any time a big move is made, it takes a little getting used to – both for the inside occupants and those visiting … “Where are your serving platters?” and “Did you keep Mom’s old mixing spoon, I don’t see it anywhere!”
I will be anxious to see where the Quilt-Alongs land and some of the other little specialty projects like the homemade notebook, especially the cover. I started with you on a couple but couldn’t stick with them to completion. Now, will I be able to find them and pick up where I left off?

  • Moving is so hard. Congratulations 🎉🍾. FYI I don’t think The Shop link in this post is working. I like to imbed links in pictures because people are trained to click on pictures. So if the picture with the word Shop is suppose to link, it is not. This is not to point out mistakes. I would be happy if people let me know if something is not working on my site. There are so many i’s to dot and t’s to cross.

Looks great! And yes, we moved 12 times in 6 years while my husband was in the Marine Corps. That was years ago when we had much less “stuff” and fewer kids. It was all a glorious and sometimes not so glorious adventure.

  • Bernice Keller

It’s going to be amazing…I can see it already is!

  • Best wishes on your move! You will be so happy that you did it once the dust settles.

  • Kathy

Congratulations! Looking forward to using the new site. I love your inspiration and thank you so much for sharing your talent!!

  • Great news! I’ll be following along! You’ve done an outstanding job with the new site.

I like all the resources labeled at the top. I am on a lot of sites and this is important. I detest looking all over the page for what I need at the moment. Great job with the site. I love the stitched look of “lori kennedy”. It is a very nice touch.

For more than 24 years as a military spouse, we moved all over the world! Overseas moves were more complicated (w/ vehicle shipped & excess goods/ appliances in storage), but seem less stressful than the digital move! I have missed the weekly news from you & your lovely daughters…. I wasn’t sure if it was just me going thru a busy spell in my sewing room & being on my computer less. Hopefully all will be ironed out by the time we return from a Disney trip w/ the kids & grands.

  • Ruth Worthey

I look forward to reaping the benefits of your move!

  • It’s fantastic Lori! I just “moved” a little to my own domain name and I can’t even imagine how much more complicated your move was!

  • Happy to be here!!! Love your new home! 🌺

  • Yay!

  • Hi Lori! Kudos to you for taking the leap with your “big move”. I’ll keep watching as everything comes together!
