Good Morning, Quilters!
I am trying really, really hard not to complain today…
The weather has me down. Here in Minnesota, the snow has been falling steadily and we have four inches of snow on the ground. A quick look at the ten-day forecast–More SNOW!

I will be in my sewing room, quilting–not snowflakes and shovels—Silly Spiral Flowers, Bicycles and even Umbrellas!
Silly Spiral Flowers are in my new book, MORE Free Motion Machine Quilting 1-2-3 (available now!)

For those of you who are not dealing with snow, YOU might need to carry an umbrella!
The Closed Umbrella is HERE and the Open Umbrella Tutorial is HERE
Both Umbrella motifs can be found in my first book, Free Motion Machine Quilting 1-2-3!
How’s the weather where YOU live?
Is it gardening or quilting season?

Weather is hot here. Almost 90 the other day. I am not ready for that yet either.

I live in sunny So Cal but I work in an accounting firm. Which means I haven’t seen the sun since February 1st ????????♀️ I dream about being snowed in and “forced” to quilt ???? P.S. You make beautiful things. Thank you so much for sharing!

West Michigan and it is snowing, blowing and cold. I had crocuses and the tips of common lilies coming up last week.

Yes! Minnesota! Gotta love it or move on. No option of moving on so I am loving it. We had a new furnance installed last Friday. There were things (12 folding chairs; 1 4’ folding table; a portable baby crib from when I had grand babies; and other miscellaneous ‘stuff’ in that mechanical room that were dumped into my sewing area. Then there was the holiday weekend so no time to organize that stuff. Ugh! I thought I would hyperventilate knowing I could not turn on a machine to just sit and sew a while. So Monday I got that stuff conquered (before the snow began to fall) and have had a wonderful time fully appreciating the opportunity the snow brings when it comes to sewing. LOL.

Here on the north shore of Long Island, about 40 miles east of NYC, we had 5 inches of snow yesterday morning. Happy to be retired so I could stay in and stitch. By afternoon, the temperature was in the mid-40’s. This latest snow is after 4 nor’easters in the last 4 weeks. I agree Lori, I’m ready for spring!

Rain and snow here in Chicago 🙁
Love, love, love your new book Lori!

Love your Spring motifs. It’s close to 80 today in Sacramento, CA and I have been outside gardening and not quilting for about a week. Take care and keep warm

Way too much snow here – 100 miles east of you. All the area schools were cancelled today. I am happily quilting a baby quilt with your sticks and stones motif. Love it! If only my thread would stop breaking……

How can I comment if I don’t have an URL?

Something very very simple? The only machine quilting I have too e is just random doodle g, following no pattern or motif.

We are to have heavy showers this afternoon with chance of tornados. Praying none materialize. nw – MS

Love your spring quilt motifs! They help to brighten the day since it’s supposed to snow again, we’re past April fool’s day.

Lori, would it make you feel better, if I told you here in Montana, (in which the weather is coming your way!), we have gotten over a foot of snow, and like you…. more on the way! It also dropped to 8 degrees last night with a feel like of -1 degree! I had hoped that once April came, the cold wouldn’t be as bad as earlier in the year… but… alas, what was I thinking! OK, that means as I am wrapping up everyone’s taxes, I can then get back to quilting! (Silver lining!) I hope it gets better for all of us, including you and my nephew, who also lives in Minnie! Thank you for the bouquet!

weather here in the UK is horrible today – rain and yet more rain. Everywhere is soaking wet and I had to cancel my weekend cycle camping trip . Good job I had some quilting to do.

We are chillier than I expect in the Dallas, Texas area, but I am pleased since I have campfire and camp stove lessons planned for my Frontier Girls tonight. Just hoping the storms stay away….love the spring motifs. I may leave them on my screen just to keep me smiling as I walk by 🙂 Thanks for the beauty.

Rain today in KS so the umbrellas are apt. I’ll have to pull out a practice piece for them after I finish quilting loops on a memory quilt for a customer. We had sleet on Easter so my parents and daughter decided to stay safely at home. :/

Lori!!!
You live in MinniSNOWda, of course it’s still snowing, what part of this did you miss, ROFLOL. It tends to not be much better here in northeast OH, lol.
My body is NOT happy with our weather either. You and I need to move to AZ 🙂
Love getting your emails, motifs, sewing paintings and photos!
Thanks for your generosity!
Donna

Still waiting for Spring in the Northeast, we can use your umbrellas today–open of course! Love that motif!

Your spring motifs really brought spring to my sewing room, just love them. Your artistry helps me feel springy too. I usually don’t get down from weather, but this year seems to be different for some reason, I want the snow gone!

I received your new book (and my lovely FMQ samples)! Love them!! I very highly recommend to all to get your book! (Etsy review done!)

No snow or rain today. After being in the 50s Fahrenheit midweek, we had some freak wet snow spits on Easter Sunday, which moved off quickly. I’m thinking the rufous hummingbirds are debating if they returned to Canada’s west coast too soon. Hopefully they have some nice wool scraps and chicken feathers in their nests to keep them warm until the warmer weather returns.
We’re off to the ferry for the first leg of our bi-annual pilgrimage to the Oregon Coast. Many quilting shops to peruse. Much quilting cotton to be fondled, drooled over, and perhaps a bitty bit purchased, and lovely walks along the shore. Although we overlook the same Pacific Ocean on our island at home, we don’t have sandy beaches to cruise along.
Perhaps a trip to the shore might put you right, Lori. Something to think about.
Loving the spring motifs, btw.

Hi Lori: I learn so much from you! I write a little blog from the Oregon coast. Yesterday was all about spring on the Oregon coast. If you want to view a little sunshine please take a look.

Just as my comment went out, yours came in. How serendipitous. I looked at your photos. A lovely prelude to what is coming our way in a day or two. Thanks.

I’m not trying not to be depressed anymore. Three days ago we were looking out at daffodils and grass starting to show up and temps in the low 50s – today we have 6 inches of snow on the ground and, like you, more predicted. As Charlie Brown would say, “Aggggggh” – so, it’s more indoor activities like sewing, quilting, baking. Northwestern MT must have the same weather MN does!

Raining and cold in Corning, NY. Your cheerful designs brightened my day. Thank you!

We had a bit of snow here in Michigan on Easter Sunday to cover much of the yard. Keeping track of the snow your way as we are headed there in a week in a half to visit my daughter in Lakeville. Hope it is more like Spring by then. I so love your blog and have learned so many quilting motifs from you. Thank you!!! and keep them coming please.

brrrr. Sorry it is so cold and snowy. – but you have nicer summers.
Our summers are too hot.
Good idea to stay inside.
Here we have very cloudy 50º and a little bit of rain, all day.

Well, we hit 80 in Alabama yesterday!! Another cool front will come through tonight and bring the possibility of severe storms and a little cooler weather. I am so ready for spring!
I love flowers of any kind and I really like the umbrellas!

I’m in New York City for a “Spring Break”…..it snowed yesterday. It stuck to the grass. We went by a school play yard & there was a snowman! Yep a snowman in NYC on April 2nd????♀️
No snow today, cold & rainy.
Happy Spring!!
Aggie
Snow still deep here in Alberta, Canada. We too, have flurries in the forecast for this week and below zero temperatures! Easter bunny hid all his easter eggs in the house this year.
Sally MB
Snow yesterday but warmth coming (but for one day).
SGerman
I almost hate to chime in, but hopefully it will remind you that spring really is coming. In Georgia, our thermometers crept up to 80 yesterday! Back to the 60s tomorrow, but we have dogwoods and azaleas in bloom. Turn on the Masters golf tournament just to enjoy the blooms in the background while you sew.

Great idea! Jealous of you! (But YOU might want to visit me in Minnesota in August???)

Our forecast snow didn’t materialise, fortunately. It’s pouring down instead. Forecast says rain all week. Great considering we are moving my parents out of their house on Thursday. They have been in it for 61 years and it is full of junk with a few little treasures here and there. Just enough that we have to check everything before it goes out!!
Lori Kennedy
Good Luck–it’s a difficult time I’m sure!

More gray & rain in Michigan. I’m binding a bed quilt, and my quilt design group is coming today – and SPRING WILL COME (soon please!!!)
Phyllis
Have tomatoes, peppers and radishes planted. Have already eaten half the radishes but the tomatoes are wondering where is all that warm weather and sunshine. More rain in Texas today. Feel for you with that snow. Being an Iowa girl couldn’t wait to leave that state but the summers are great. Love all those motifs Lori. Just keep quilting and it will vanish eventually!!

Just received my More book yesterday, is so inspiring and can’t wait to use in my projects. Loved the samples, a great visual, thank you Lorie!

So glad YOU like it!!!

South of the Cities, and we have about 3 inches on our deck. Will Spring ever come to MN?? I’ll be in my sewing room today too.
Aileen Kline
Hi. Love the Spring inspired motifs. The first two pictures are very hard to see on the bright green but the umbrella one near the bottom show just right. Will be ordering your 2nd book this week!!

Love them–Parisian!
