I break into tears…we lost our Lucy in October (cancer) and we miss her deeply. I let our friend know, we need to love another. When our Buddy passed, Lucy needed a home. And now Boots, who needed a home, is with us. We will never forget our furbabies who have passed. We have a lot of love to give, and there are so many homeless pets out there. I hope you will see, one day, a pet who needs your love. They really give us far more than we ever realize. Someone told me, The only thing wrong with pets is they don’t live forever. My sympathy to you and yours.

I’m so sorry for your loss, deeply, from the bottom of my heart. There’s something so special about the unconditional love those Aussies give . . . that warm, soft fur; those deep understanding eyes; their eagerness to please, no matter what. I know you are hurting; we will all miss your Roxie!

Lori, My condolences to you and your family who loved Roxie for 12 years–it is so hard to say goodbye to a loved family member. Roxie will always be in your hearts. I know she gave you all many hugs and doggie kisses over the years. So sorry for your loss.

I rescue large senior dogs. Some come to me because their owner died or moved into a senior care facility, many come with health issues that their owners can’t or won’t treat, but too many come because ‘They are not fun anymore’ and if they die in the shelter the owned doesn’t need to know. Some can be adopted to someone looking for a senior. Many live with me for whatever time we have. Last November I had 4 dogs die in 4 weeks from cancer or heart worm, I wondered if I could continue to save these guys. In January I felled the 4 open places.

Thanks for giving Roxie love and care to the very end. You would be amazed at how many just dump them.

God bless you for this service of love.

I’m so sorry for your loss, Lori. Our pets are members of our families and it’s so hard when they pass, but you have good memories to comfort you. I know from experience that the dog that remains will grieve too, but you can be a comfort to each other.

  • Barb Allen

Twelve years – what a wonderful long life your Roxie had with you – thank you for giving her the furever home that every doggie deserves! Over the years I’ve been blessed to share my life with many furries, and I know that each loss is terrible. I have learned, as I’m sure you have, that memories are our lifeline. I am holding you in my heart and sending you wishes for joy in your memories even while you grieve.

There is no preparing for this. I’ve lost many pets over my 67 years and I’m always left with an aching hole in my heart. After a while, and this is different every time, I’m able to ease the pain by filling that hole with the love of a new pet. It never takes anything away from the love for the one that’s gone, but it does make things better for me. Just like people, they’re never really gone as long as we remember them. They stay in our hearts forever.
I don’t assume that you feel as I do, but I pray that time quickly lessens your sorrow. And if you choose to bring home a another pet, may he or she give you the solace and unconditional, healing love that only a pet can provide.

    From my heart to yours,
    Suzanne

  • I’m very sorry! Pets hold such a special part of our hearts. xoxoxo

  • Lori,
As so many, I’ve had dogs in my life from an early age & their absence from my life never lessens. The unconditional love they provide prepares us for grieving in our own personal manner as we remember, with tears sliding from our eyes the, chin resting on the bed linens watching, with not a sound, as they patiently await our rising so they may begin their day with that favourite morning run–such a special time, living that moment in the bubble with our companion.

Roxie will live on in your heart & brain ’till you’ve grieved enough, laughed at special memories, & recalled moments of worry at moments when she was out of her familiar routine, with hearts pounding you found her & hugged her close as she gave you that “puzzled expression” of “You thought I would leave you, not until You are ready?”

Keeping Roxie, her family, & friends close in my heart.

  • It is always hard to lose our pet pals. Sorry for your loss.

Losing a beloved pet is never easy. But time does heal and eventually we smile and remember the good times with them. Still, time takes time so shed some tears and grieve properly then you will be able to move on to the fond memories of living with Roxie for so many years.
