How beautiful!

Is that a little downy woodpecker? Perhaps a female without the red crown? A lovely sight. I’ve seen a few of them here. We also have the grandaddies of the woodpecker world … the pileated. They are large and noisy, and oh so majestic, except in spring when they use our rain gutters as noise makers to attract potential partners.

What a sweet little bird! I love bird watching from late fall through early spring. You can see them so well with the leaves sparse or gone. Heard a couple of hoot owls having quite the conversation between themselves earlier this morning. Wish I could’ve spotted them!!
