Fascinating how a painting can evoke such memories in people. For myself, my head would be down as I nod off… LOL falling asleep at the computer is my greatest vice. Never have fallen asleep while sewing.
Oh my gosh…. I looked at this and thought – “this is me”
Sweet painting. Love the tones.
My family is from Holland. This room reminds me of my dad’s mom’s house. She was very sad after her husband died (heart attack probably) and daughter @ around 30 of a brain aneurysm we think. She put up black wall paper in her house. I kind of liked it.
I have my gramma’s old tea table (thee kastje) and a small roll of the wall paper.
I will never throw it away, LOL
i still have my Oma’s wall hanging, it was used to stop the bicycles from gouging the wall they had to lean on! The fringing has disintegrated and I hate hanging it up in case it deteriorates more so once in a while open the parcel and have a wee snifff as her smell seems to linger, this dates back to 1950.
That looks like me watching TV but I don’t think I’ve ever fallen asleep stitching. The shadows on the art work are well done, aren’t they? Long day for this gal.
We are so blessed to be able to see and experience our world in color. Is it not amazing to also see it through this artist’s eyes in contrast and value. I should be always thinking about discovering value when I look for fabrics despite all the wonderful colors. Thanks, Lori, for making us remember the basics and how to build from there.

As my mother used to say, “Not another sock!”

Lori, I always enjoy Seamstresses in Fine Art. I am looking for fine art with women weaving and am asking where do you find your images?
