I find it interesting that the clothing, background, curtains, plant, etc., are all so splashily painted, but the face and hair are so finely done. His centre of attention I’m guessing? To my mind, he seems to have made a definite distinction.
You’re right Maureen! It draws a person’s attention right to the figure and everything behind and around her stays right where where he wants – in the background.
Lori, it’s such a treat seeing what stunning art you’ve posted on Saturday. I dabble in painting, so love to see what master of fine art you’re featuring. The shadows in this one are stunning. Thank you and happy weekend talented lady,

Some years ago, I was privileged to visit an art museum in Boston. I was astonished at the difference between the paintings in my text books and the real ones. Viva La Difference !! That has helped tho to imagine what the photos can’t show. But thank goodness for photography!! Otherwise I’d miss a lot.
Before looking at the author of the painting, I try to guess which country he comes from. I succeed from time to time. It’s my little pleasure on Saturday morning while I’m having breakfast. Thanks for it Lori.

Subtle, yet brilliant, all in the same scene. I too would love to see this one in “real time”.
