I learned to sew on my Grandmother’s treadle machine and have a special love for them. Thank you, Lori, for today’s post and links. I thoroughly enjoyed it. But I have a question: Why is her right arm underneath the machine?? (or was this artistic licenseto broaden the view of the sewing machine area?)
DITTO to all they said above !!! This reminds me of the scene in the movie Fiddler on the Roof when the young son-in- law receives his sewing machine to help him in his tailor work. The neighbors gather around to see his new machine work. How many movies show sewing? Thanks again, Lori..
Again, I’m so impressed with this painting showing a seamstress in fine art. Never would I have guessed that domestic arts would be such endearing subjects for so many artists. I really look forward to the Saturday Inbox Jaunt. Thank you very much!
Ury’s talent is evident in the face of this young lady intently working away as he paints. I believe there is one of his works displayed on a Paris, Metro wall of a young man alone sawing a log. The sweat on his face is so real I always wanted to touch it!
Thank you ever so much Lori.
