How really stunning an image! I bet that issue sold out ! I love it and would welcome it on my sewing room wall. And, Patty, did you inherit her genes? Most likely you did. Thank you for sharing with us and perking up a cloudy day here in south GA. Hope New England is doing well in the weather dept. If you have electricity, sewing can happily continue ! Unless you are blessed with a treadle! Thanks Lori.

Thanks for sharing the picture and background. My mother named me after her favorite teacher, named Rita of course. Mom was of the era when you only finished 8th grade. But she did the Palmer writing course and her handwriting was beautiful. Helps when we want to quilt a continuous line of writing. I find myself now practicing cursive now.

I remember 50 years ago buying Vogue Magazine. They used photos for the covers by then. Even though the photographers are artists, too, the drawing/painting artists were in a category all their own. For better or worse, those days are gone. Thank goodness we can enjoy and admire their work now. So beautiful.

Ms Sanger was only 22 when she was published — the cover of the 1915 cover above. Quite a success! The illustration is exquisite! Thank you Lori and Patricia Stein for sharing with us.

The illustration’s checkered skirt reminds me of the Kaleidoscope Quilt in Red and White Quilts: Infinite Variety ( page 73) by Elizabeth V. Warren and Maggi Gordon.
