Good Morning, Quilters!
A few weeks ago, I wrote about my sewing room and posted this photo of my sewing room:
At the time, I admitted the other half of the room was less serene.
My friend, Tracy Mooney from Generation Q Magazine challenged me to show the rest…
This is very hard for me…
Don’t judge…though I know you will…(I’m feeling very judgmental about it right now!)
The book cases are leftovers from my daughter’s college dorms…(I’d rather buy fabric?)
As you can see, focus is somewhat of an issue….
Well, they say that admitting we have a problem is the first step….
I’m calling the carpenter TODAY!
What about YOU? Are you willing to share a photo of your sewing room right now?
Are YOU a focused quilter?

With your hectic schedule, I’m surprised you could keep it THIS neat! I’m constantly moving stuff around with several projects going on at the same time. I can no longer get even a piece of paper in my once-neat closet! Time for spring cleaning here.

I love your courage,it’s true we all tend to think the grass is greener (the room neat as a pin) like the picture. I love that I have a room that can have it’s door shut. For 26 yrs I sewed on the dining room table. Iron, machine and supplies all had to be hidden away for family meals. The room means freedom to sew when even a 15 minute window opens. Thanks for sharing.

Looks like my space, loved that you shared.

It looks organized to me. It seems that everything has a place. I am in the process of moving so I can’t share a pic of my space, but it is my intention to find a way to keep everything hidden behind doors when I am not using them whether it be a closet door or cabinet doors! I think that will make me feel like I am in control.

This looks completely normal! 😀

Hi Lori, Him Indoors has just put together a whole wall of units which I have wanted for ages and now I miss the space on the wall for displaying my bits and pieces! It’s a true saying, “be careful what you wish for” lol. Organized chaos gives your brain a workout remembering when you last seen something?. Anna

A creative mind has to have space to think….and create!

I somettimes…most of the time,…only have a few minutes to spend in my sewing room. When I can carve an hour or more there I dont spend it cleaning until I cant function then I will quick clean until even that wont do it and I am forced to dig in….it is close to that way now :0)

LOVE your sewing space Lori! I try to keep mine somewhat organized, but it seems when it’s clean, I don’t get any inspiration! The coloured fabric piled here and there, the scraps, the thread, etc. inspires wonderful colour combinations and I’m off cutting and shoving stuff out of the way LOL. My storage is NOT matched either…all comes from yard sales and ingenuity of what’s in hubby’s junk stash that will work to solve my current “problem”. I’d love to have everything match, but yes, I’d rather buy fabric or thread :-). And, I also cut paper with my good rotary cutter the other day! Couldn’t find my paper cutting one!!

Good morning Lori. Seeing your photos confirms that you’re normal, like the rest of us quilters and sewers. We’re beautiful mess-makers, and out of the chaos comes wonderful art, what could be more joyous than that?

Your sewing room is wonderful, it shows me there’s a lot of creativity going on in there by a terrific quilter!

Looks perfectly normal to me!!

There’s no way I’d show you a picture of my sewing room at the moment! Yours is clean compared to mine!
Jo-Ann
Love it! I can tell you are a very creative, multi-tasking, productive, fun loving, energetic quilting artist!
Carmen
Your sewing room isn’t as bad as mine. LOL No, I wouldn’t want to share a picture. LOL
JoAnn
I thought organized chaos was a sign of creative intelligence……Please don’t change a thing!

Lori, your room looks like a well-organized chaos compared to my studio. I’m too ashamed to post my photos. And, yes, I think we would all rather spend the money on fabrics versus “proper”bookcases and shelves.
Love your blog! Looking forward to more inspiration.
Patty
Not so bad. Looks a lot like mine. But we seem to still get lots done and I know exactly which pile holds what

Oh, Lori, I am so thankful you showed us this! Your room looks like a place where a lot is happening. I love to have my room all tidy but it just can’t be all the time. Sometimes I feel so guilty about that but if I am going to be constantly cleaning up I’ll never get any sewing done. I am so thankful I’m not the only one! Sometimes on blogs people can appear to have a “perfect life” or a “perfect room” or a perfect whatever. This is a reminder that we are all human! I love your room!
Shelor
Looks just like my place! 🙂

I would feel right at home in your sewing room. It looks lovely and cheerful. Your little bit of clutter doesn’t bother me one bit Lori x
Amanda Pitman
Lori, yours looks a lot neater than mine. 🙂 I wonder if there are many of us who have a messy storage half and a neater work spàce?
Mary Cortez
I think a lot of quilters have rooms that look just like yours! Mine happens to be completely empty right now as I am in the process of revamping the space….wish me luck!
