Home Town Quilt, LKennedy

Home Town Quilt, LKennedyGood Morning, Quilters!

It’s a happy day in My Home Town (Stillwater, Minnesota)…

This little quilt (12 x 20 inches) was stitched in less than an hour.

Remember the Doodle Lesson on Wavy Lines?

I started by drawing wavy lines across my fabric.

Doodles, LKennedyThen I added Home Sweet Home from yesterday’s, Tuesday Tutorial-

Home,FMQ, LKennedyPretty soon, I had an entire village!

Home Town Quilt, LKennedyI had so much fun that I think I will make this into a larger quilt.

I could add motifs like the Race Car

The Race Car-A Free Motion Quilt TutorialAnd perhaps a few trucks…(Is anyone interested in a tutorial for this?)Free Motion Quilted TruckI think with a little doodling this little village…Home Town Quilt, LKennedyCould be developed into a really fun city!

Hope YOUR doodles are helping you create more imaginative quilts!

Happy Street-Cleaning!

Lori

NOTE-This little quilt was stitched on my BERNINA 770QE  with Sulky Rayon 30 wt on top, Aurifil cotton 50 wt in the bobbin, using a size 90 Topstitch needle.

I would love a tutorial on both little cars.

  • I really like the village you created!

  • Lorraine Doyno Evans

    Very clever!

I love how you changed the motif to trees and houses! We love to camp in a trailer and I am imagining a campfire, trees and a vintage trailer tutorial! Thank you Lori!

Oh my goodness! I just saw this on Pinterest and pinned it before I saw this in my email.

  • quilterpt

Yes, a tutorial on the delivery truck would be great! You do such a lovely job. Thanks for sharing.

  • So cute. Would love the tutorials for the cars and trucks.

  • GrrannyH

Cute, cute, cute! And yes! FMQ cars, trucks, etc.

  • Elaine in North Tx.

Yes to vehicles for machine quilting. Loved the little quilt.

  • Trish

Love your hometown quilt!! Very cool. 🙂

  • Now, to make it really “educational” for a youngster, maybe put street names of his or her streets on it! And the cars and trucks on a border! Love your ideas, Lori.

  • Carol

Love the idea. I have been wanting you to put together a snowy birdie rural scene, too! If you are taking suggestions! LOL

  • Adorable little quilt and I loved your beautiful town! I hope to come back sometime. I was super busy having fun with Charlie the last couple days but my head doodled all kinds of things all day….is like I had my doodle googles on. LOL! Sometimes it just takes someone kicking open a door to find all the new inspiration and ideas. You do that for me. 🙂 Have a super day! 🙂

  • trucks, cars, boats (cruise ships) as the river is right there 😀

  • Maggie

Oh my gosh! That is darling!

  • Cute poem Jane!! Love the truck idea Lori. I’m right across the “crick” from you, east of Houlton. How about a pickup pulling a horse trailer!?!?!?

  • Trucks, trains, planes! More things that go!
We could put your boat in a lake, way down low.
With a bird in the sky and a dog in the yard
Quilting this way isn’t so hard!

This question is off the subject, but I’m interested in your thoughts on quilt care. How do you clean/launder the quilts that your family uses on beds. laps, etc.?
Thanks for all of your tutorials.

  • That looks fantastic Lori. Thanks for sharing you Home Town quilting.

  • This could be really fun stitched on a kids quilt around the border. Yes please for the extra tutorial. Your blog has been a fantastic quilting resource for me as I learn more about Free Motion Quilting. Thank you.

  • June Neigum

Yes, trucks would be a good thing to add to our repertoire. I am making a road map quilt (at least in my head) for my GS. Anything boyish would be great addition to put on it.

  • Licorne

super joli ce petit village, j’aime beaucoup
    merci à vous

  • I would be very interested, because this would be a perfect Christmas gift for my Dad.
Greetings from Germany and thanks for your patience to show us all your tutorials!

I think you could add lots of cars on the Main Street of Stillwater. The wavy lines are the hills but also the beautiful St. Croissants. I like the design a lot.

    • A

Do you live nearby? Or have you visited Stillwater?

      • Jean W

Grew up in River Falls and now live in northern WI so I love when you photos are of the river. So yes I have visited Stillwater and love the shops and the eating is fun too.

That St. Croix ..auto correct does some interesting things.
