INSPIRATIONAL QUILTING
This morning, I woke up early and listened to this inspiring Quilt Chat by quilt artist-and Master Quilter, Bethanne Nemesh. A few of her “take home” messages:
Focus on techniques you love and don’t be tempted by trends.
For competition quilters, her advice: Do the hard thing and
Don’t do what everyone else is doing…
(Sounds like an allegory for life???)
CRAFTSY UNLIMITED IS NOW Bluprint
In other news…, Craftsy Unlimited (recently purchased by NBC) is rebranding as Bluprint and will be expanding to include more “edutainment” and new lifestyle categories like home dec, yoga, fashion, journaling…
What does the change to Craftsy mean for YOU?
If you’ve purchased any Craftsy videos, they are still yours to keep forever!
If you’ve signed up for Craftsy Unlimited–with access to all videos on a subscription basis– you will now be enrolled in Bluprint
I highly recommend this LIMITED TIME SPECIAL OFFER: Try Bluprint, watch everything free!
MACHINE QUILTING UNLIMITED CLOSES
Sadly, we are losing two more quilt magazines. Meander Publishing announced it will no longer publish Machine Quilting Unlimited and Modern Quilts Unlimited due to increase publishing/printing costs.
AMERICAN QUILTER MAGAZINE!!!
This really illustrates what a great deal American Quilter Magazine remains!
This month you get–Tula Pink, and two of my favorite machine quilters–Cindy Needham and Margaret Solomon Gunn!
And of course…there’s My Line with Lori Kennedy–reason enough to buy this superb magazine! LOL
A THOUGHTFUL READ-CARRIE BLOOMSTON QUITS THE GIG ECONOMY
You might also enjoy this article from the Craft Industry Alliance by quilt artist and fabric designer, Carrie Bloomston. Carrie honestly describes some of the challenges of working in the quilt industry (like the endless social media cycle) and why she decided to pull back. Don’t worry…she’s still designing fabric!
A BUSY WEEK
Tomorrow- a fun new machine quilting tutorial.
Later this week–Both Nora and Faye –check in with their beginner quilting projects. T
hey have learned a lot, but have a lot of questions…and more machine quilting tips–to help YOU on YOUR quilting journey!
May YOUR day be filled with the people (and quilts) YOU LOVE…
