It’s Tea Time!
Wouldn’t it be cozy to add a Teacup Motif to a quilt border or block?
Begin by drawing two parallel lines. For this tutorial, the lines are two inches apart. The lines help the teacups from tipping too far off-balance, but don’t be rigid about following the drawn lines.
Begin at the bottom, between the two lines. Stitch a curve–up and to the left.
Stitch a straight line to create the top of the teacup.
Stitch a half circle-from right to left, stitching near, but not on top of the previous line of stitching.
Closely echo stitch the top line, to the center.
Repeat the design to create as many Teacups as you would like. Stitch slightly different shapes and allow the cups to lean right and left.
Echo stitch the top teacup and a few stitches down the right side.
Add a small semi-circle handle and echo stitch the handle, then echo stitch down to the next cup to add another handle.
Embellish a single teacup by adding a few swirls and twirls as you echo stitch the top of the cup.
Now that’s a well brewed cup of tea–the symbol of ease and graciousness!
