Faye's Wedding Portrait
Good Morning, Quilters!

I have been absent from blogging for quite awhile and I want to thank all of you who sent messages hoping I was well….

I can assure you, I have been quite well–though often quite tired!

The last few months have been busier than usual.  I have so much to tell and share–sewing, quilting, creative projects galore!

(Get ready because I  have a lot of projects, sew-a-longs, exciting news for YOU!)

And I’ve also been busy with FAMILY…

Faye’s Wedding!

EDITOR’S NOTE-This post is overflowing with gushing statements by an emotional and very proud mama–and includes asking a favor of YOU!

Faye and Steve were married on Saturday at the 100 year old, Basilica of St. Mary’s in Minneapolis followed by a lovely evening of dinner and dancing at the historical  Minneapolis Club.

The Happy Couple is honeymooning on Kauai.  I imagine they are drinking pina coladas and rehabbing their dancing feet in the sandy shores right now!

Please help me surprise them on their return….

Wouldn’t it be fun to flood their mailbox with postcards and notes from ALL the readers from all the countries of LKQ!?!!!

If YOU have time, please drop the couple a note:

Having met Faye at JCCNSchool last fall, I can attest she is as lovely inside as out. Best wishes to a long and happy marriage—especially with the support of this loving family.❤️

Lavender fields!? What a lovely setting for a wedding! I’m sure it was beautiful! Thank you for sending a card. I’m sure they will love greetings from France!

Takes my breath away – how darling your daughter looks in the first photo – and everyone looks so excited and happy for the newlyweds. I can only imagine how beautiful the wedding and reception were in that beautiful church and the traditional club. So glad you took time off to enjoy this very special time in your life -spending precious time planning with your daughter. Congratulations and blessings to the new couple!

Thank you Mary Kay! It was a very elegant event indeed. And my feet have mostly recovered!

  • Marta

The first photo posted above of the bride in her dress really took my breath away. She
is beautiful and the dress very exquisite. The couple looks so happy ! So sorry your mom missed it. We all have folks we miss during holidays and important family events. Congratulations and more blessings to all of you!

Thank you Marta! I’m pretty sure my Mom was present!
      And how are you?

      • Marta

Doing good, thank you! Just sewing all the time. Chemo maintenance will be finished in Sept. So good to turn into 2020 and look forward to that finish. Get you some well earned rest now…go to bed before falling asleep on the keyboard! (advice from an old gramma!)

  • You have a daughter old enough to get married?!?!? Congrats to all of you!

  • Congratulations to the happy couple and all the family. Everything looks lovely.

  • An absolutely gorgeous wedding and beautiful couple. Congrats to both sets of parents! I am so glad you are back, but family time, especially celebrations like this are so important. Glad you were able to be present and unconnected – that is – completely present in the present! Missed your blog but looking forward for the posts to come. Now that you are a magazine contributor, will you cut back a bit on blog posts? I love your posts!

Hi Darlene. Thank you for your kind words. As for being a magazine contributor- do you mean with American Quilter Magazine? I have been a contributor for a number of years- but I’m always in the back of the magazine. The best way to read The magazine is to flip it over and read it from the back lolol

  • Jeanne

Congratulations! A beautiful bride, groom and family. Looking forward to what you have to share.

  • Maureen B. in B.C.

Faye glowed. Her gown and shrug were beautiful, but the glow came from within. She’s a beautiful woman, and no woman looks more beautiful than on her wedding day, because of the glow. It’s a combination of happiness, wonderment, knowledge, amazing luck to find just the right partner in all this world, dreams, and a touch of sweetness to finish off. Faye had it all. You also had some of each of those, along with the sigh of relief that it’s all come off swimmingly. You’re a very lucky woman to have so much family and love around you. Now you can put your feet up and recover. We won’t expect much from you for a while yet.

Thank you Maureen! Your description is spot on!

  • Congratulations! So glad you’re back.

Was thinking of you this week and realized we had not heard from you for a long while. I thought maybe I had accidentally unsubscribed. Lol After a little more thinking It came to mind that your daughter was getting married and you’d not be blogging for awhile. Glad you are back. What beautiful pictures! Thanks for sharing with us! I’m sure you had a wild and wonderful time. Many memories made. Looking forward to seeing what’s in store next!

    • Holly Ann

Same thing with me, Susan. Began wondering if my subscription had failed with the new website format when I saw Lori’s heart motif posted on Bernina’s “We All Sew” site. Now I know.

Sorry! I should have sent a “wedding vacation” post- but honestly it just crept up on me!

  • Congratulations ! 🙂

  • Congratulations to you and your extended family, especially the newlyweds. Wedding photos look stunning.
You probably already know, but there is a Hawaiian tradition where the first quilt made for them is supposed to be a Breadfruit Quilt (I have ours on our bed right now and we’ve been married almost 33 years). Maybe you can create a FMQ Breadfruit motif?

    • WordPress.com Support

Oh dear! I’m already behind on three wedding quilts. Perhaps a breadfruit pillow?

  • Congrats! How exciting!

  • Rita S

Lori Congratulations to all of you. It takes the whole family to make such happy memories. Hope you can sit back and relax a little.

  • Marianne

Congratulations to the newly weds! Highly recommend a visit to Po’ipu Beach Park. Our favorite spot to catch a basking Monk Seal on Kauai’s south shore!

  • Mary G

We had a family wedding at the basilica last August – it is a beautiful setting for the start of their new life together. God bless…

  • Cheri

Congratulations to the happy couple! Having gone through 3 daughters weddings I understand the hours and hours of time that go into this celebration as you do.
Rest up a little and then show us what you have! (In new motifs)❤️

  • What a wonderful reason to be gone…Congrats to the happy couple and also congrats to the very happy parents!! Everyone looked exquisite! So glad to have you back and look forward to what you have in store for us!! The pictures were just lovely!!

  • Suzanne

I WAS a bit worried…but delighted at the reason why you were so quiet.

Your photos are exquisite and everyone looks happy, perhaps with the exception of your husband? If he’s like my sweet hubby, sometimes I have to drag a smile out of him. (I think it’s his Marine Corp training).

I LOVE the elegant simplicity of Faye’s wedding gown as well as the gorgeous dark green bridesmaid’s dresses. Less is definitely so much more! Often a bride selects such an elaborate dress that it overshadows how lovely she is herself. I think that’s a shame. I made my daughter’s gown 26 years ago (I decided never to make another-it’s too much work!) and she insisted on so much “frou-frou” that I didn’t like it at all. But she was happy and that’s all that really mattered.

And is that a rabbit fur shrug Faye’s wearing in the first picture? She looks adorable in it. I wore one of those to a prom when I was a teenager MANY years ago.

Congratulations and best wishes all of you!!

  • Adele

Georgous wedding and fabulous photos! Congratulations and Blessings to the couple!

  • Gayle O’Grady

Congratulations!! What a beautiful wedding! I did miss you a lot but have to say that you have given me enough inspiration for a long time. Now I can keep myself busy enough to allow for your occasional break from blogging. Lol.

  • Janette

  • God’s blessing on your family and wedding. The bride’s dress simply elegant and classy.
