Fast and Easy Valentine Quilt

February 8, 2019
Good Morning, Quilters!I’m reporting from the Tundra today!

It’s a balmy -7 degrees here in Minnesota and we’ve had 12 inches of snow!

I say “balmy” because it beats last week when we hovered around -27F (with windchill -50)!

Blogging Mojo

I’ve kind of lost my blogging mojo of late…(yes, mojo is a word in the dictionary–“to have a charm for” –not to be confused with the yummy, Cuban sauce!)I apologize for not checking in, but I’ve been working on two HUGE (at least in my head) projects. But it doesn’t mean I haven’t been thinking about YOU! I’ll tell you more about the projects in the coming weeks and you’ll see that, in fact, I’ve been thinking about YOU a lot!!!

A Quick and Easy Quilted Valentine Project

If you are looking for a quick and easy Valentine project, try the Hugs and Kisses Quilt!Start with a two inch grid. (Everything looks better on a grid!) Free motion quilt the straight lines–if they’re a little wonky, it adds to the charm.Stitch Spiral Hugs and Messy Kisses (Xs) (Or is it the other way around? Are X’s kisses or hugs?) I’ll google it later! That’s it!You’ve got YOUR quilting mojo back! Now to find my writing mojo….

XOXOXO

Just finished my little Hugs and Kisses quilt last night. Thank you for this fun tutorial and quilting practice.

Funny. I saw this much bigger than what it actually is. I thought it was a big table topper with the grid being 5 or 6 inch squares. LOL
Lori, we all need a little break sometimes. Perfectly normal and perfectly fine.

I love this little quilt! Going to get out my red solids! On the weather front, My cousin Leslie, who grew up in Santa Rosa, California married a guy from Minnesota and has lived her adult life in Chanhassen…talk about climate shock! 🤓

Hi Lori, Right here with you. I didn’t go to work last Wednesday though. Tonight we went out for dinner anyway. We’re getting through it by counting down the days till our trip to Florida. Can’t wait to see what you’re working.

  • Cheri

Well since you are the energizer bunny to me, you get to have down time for sure, or is that frozen time? Brought my featherweight to Florida with me, so may try that valentine quilt! Actually, and I may be nuts, but I miss our Minnesota weather! At least for 10 minutes anyway!

brrrrrrrr. You should relocate to Northern Virginia.
I love this little mini quilt.
When I do not get blog updates, I figure you are off having a blast doing many wonderful things. So, just keep going ❤️

Good grief Lori, if anyone’s “allowed” to lose her mojo, it’s you. Please don’t ever apologize to us. You give us SO MUCH, if anything, we owe YOU.

    Stay well and warm.

    God bless

Lori. Love your site. We all know what it’s like to lose your Mojo and then suddenly find it again.

Oh, Jeez! I remember those days when I lived in Omaha and Dallas. It is going to be 80 here today (Clearwater, FL). Come on down! Love your site and free tutorials! Thanks so much!

    Bless you Lori,

I played tennis today and had to put on sunscreen lotion….
I am sitting here with my two doors open and the sun is shinning…… Its suppose to get to 80 today!!!

Will have to get motivated to do some quilting today…

You are more than allowed to take time for your projects, cause I know it will be worth it.
If I had more time I would do your hugs and kisses, trying to work thru my own WIP’s
Come to Sunny AZ, we are complaining cause it is in the the 60’s.

Xs are the kisses because it is lips meeting in the middle, and Os are the hugs of your arms going around someone. At least that is how I remember it.
