There is a great deal of excitement here at The Inbox Jaunt. It was truly amazing to see all of the interest generated by the Doodle Quilts. I am grateful to all of you who commented, re-blogged, linked, or just came for a look-see. Truly amazing! Thank you! Never again will I underestimate the power of the World Wide Web!
I believe the excitement is largely because each of us is harboring a doodle that is aching to be released onto cloth!? So let’s get to it! Over the next several weeks I will walk you through my method and help you create your VERY OWN doodle quilt…
There will be: Tutorials….Assignments….Challenges…Projects…Linky Parties…. and of course PHOTOs, lots and lots of photos!
For now, I will leave you with:
Assignment #1: Start saving your DOODLEs. (oh, and get a notebook—every project deserves a new notebook)–I’ll give you some suggestions on how to use a notebook for doodles next time.

Lori, again your quilts are amazing!! I’m still “waiting” for the right project to use your hand dyed fabrics. You’re motivating me with these tutorials!! :)R

Just use them! I will send more…I want to see your creations with them! Also, I will be doing a January post of the wedding quilt. I’m having a hard time photographing it.

Swoon! So beautiful – do you hand-dye your own fabric? I love the colors and you have inspired me to join in on your doodle tutorial! I made a quilt for my son when he left for college too – looks like we have similar taste in colors and fabrics 🙂

PS–I’m so glad you’re going to join in!!

Wow! Thank you for your kind words –we do have similar taste–we both love COLOR! I do hand dye my own fabrics. It is so much fun to see the rich colors one can dye. I plan to do some dyeing tutorials — it is so much easier than the books make it seem!

It’s great that you will do this. I just love the colors you used in this Amish Bars quilt and the way your doodles update it. Wondering if the 2nd twin is getting eager to have hers…..

Thank you. I do love the bold graphic colors of the Amish quilts, but looove the richness of hand-dyed fabrics. The twins just left for college two hours ago–already miss them, but will try to have the quilt to her by Labor Day. Thanks for visiting (and commenting)!
