With Easter less than a week away–it’s time to start decorating eggs! I’d like to say this is a less messy version of traditional egg decorating, but if you took one glance at my sewing studio…
Start by sketching an oval on paper to use as a pattern…Then draw several eggs on to your fabric–rotating them at different angles. You might like to overlap the eggs and tuck a few behind the rest…
In order to stitch the eggs, begin at the top and stitch all the way around and back to your starting point. Be bold! If you hesitate at all, you’ll end up with a bumpy egg–see below:
For the basic egg, begin with a small circle at the top..then just stitch curves right to left, back and forth to give the egg contour…
If you’re feeling a little more adventurous…add a spiral at the top…
and then add scallops. Try to keep the scallops following your contour lines.
Now that was fun, so let’s add loops!
…and why not swirls?
But don’t stop there…
In less time than it takes to make an omelet, you’ll have a dozen Easter eggs embellished!
Now we need an Easter Bunny to hide our gorgeous eggs…
