Lori, I am lost…I watched the first class; is there someplace detailing how to start; i.e. Prep work of the batting and sample, drawing lines for quilting. Seems I saw something in The Inbox Jaunt but do not see it now. HELP

Did you watch the first class or the first lesson?
We made a conscious decision not to repeat things from the first class, Divide and Conquer…so there is no “get started quilting” section. We dive right into motifs.

Thanks for the lottery chance again for your new Craftsy class. Regarding the Quilt-Along … I am considering a self-binding by bringing the backing up and over the front to show off the nautical print I found in my stash. How much bigger than the top/batting would you suggest I cut the backing on this small project?

Thank you, Janet. The video you suggested is basically how I do it, except I do the corners a bit different for my mitering. My question was more of a ratio issue, so I will rephrase …
Lori: On these small vase/table/wall/decorative quilts that you are famous for, what is the most common FINISHED WIDTH of your binding that shows on the top of the quilt? I can figure the rest out from there. Thanks.

I love one quarter inch bindings! Lol!

There are a lot of examples and tutorials when Googled. The size of the binding desired determines the amount of backing. I thought this one was good…http://makingmrsm.com/self-binding-quilt/

Hope it is not too late to ask question RE chalk for Mystery Block. Any particular reason for chalk markers or is a Frixion pen not appropriate? In our rural area there are no quilt/sewing supply shops…would those chalk markers be stocked maybe in a “blue big box store” aka wallyworld ? Thank you…
