I’ll be leaving thread, snips, fat quarters and rulers for my sewing buddies. My teens will get park passes to the local National Park and gift cards to their favorite stores and if they’re really good, a gift card for Amazon and iTunes. 🙂 Hubby Dearest gets a book from his favorite author and a coupon for back rub/foot rub.

  • Joy French

I saw a tip where a smart quilter was using toe separator’s (the kind you use when painting your nails) to hold tidy bobbins. That would be so handy for travelling. That’s what I want in my stocking.

  • Inge C.

I have been making pin cushions and needle books to give in a special secret santa game in my husband’s family. I would sew love to read one of Mary Bostwick’s books, but here in Denmark they are very expensive to come by because of the shipping and customs fees…. Hope to win either of the two 🙂 it would be such a treat for Christmas, – thank you!

  • Vikki

I put in Christmas decorations made out of scraps – can’t bear to throw them away.

  • My favorite all time sewing gift was a new light with a magnifying glass. I also. Enjoyed the pair of 2 4 I use to roll my quilts on for basting. My husband thought of that himself when he saw me use old curtain rods that really weren’t too rigid.

  • Can you get Eyebobs in percscription?..so cute! hate that I’m at the need glasses point but cute and stylin would be ok!! B)

  • Janet L

Lip balms, hand creams and favorite candy treats are our family’s traditional stocking stuffers.

  • Sarah Scott

I would love to get some of the Clover Wonder Clips in my stocking. I’ve heard good things! I should send a hint to my husband!!! 🙂 Thanks for the opportunity to win!!

  • Karen

Would love to win the book. Thank you for all your inspiration of quilting and free motion stitching.

  • Along with some fun sewing/quilting goodies for my daughters I added some fun canning neccessities and the new Holiday Cookbook from the Pioneer Woman..Ree Drummond…the girls asked for that one. A little big for the stocking but it’s awesome. I treated myself to one also..can’t wait to try it.
One of my favorite recipes is for Lori’s quilt “sandwiches. Delicious to work on and No calories!! I love those little things…so fun to play on. I’ve made me a stack of them! Thanks Lori!!

  • I am putting with loving care homemade sweet breads in my stockings! I love baking this time of year. All the decorations are up, and quilts are under the tree. Prepared this yea. Happiness!!

  • TRACY

The books themselves! I am actually am giving several from Mary Bostwick to my mom for Christmas, shhhhhh! We have not read any and my mom has brought them up in conversation on many an occasion. Is she hinting?

  • Rhonda Casey

I’d like to find a gift certificate for housecleaning services. That way I’d would have more time to sew. And I can’t forget about my quilting supervisors – how about some kitty treats for them.

  • Jeanne Crea

I am giving Stephanie Landsem’s “The Well” for Christmas! Excellent book. I have preordered her next book “The Thief” and can’t wait to read it.

  • I am just finishing reading Quilting in the Limelight by Philippa Naylor. Her background story is just as interesting as her stunning quilts. Also, I have put in my wish list for a stocking stuffer the Bohin chalk pencils (not the extra fine) that Amazon carries. Love these! Have not tried Aurifil yet, but I hear so many rave reviews about it, I must get some.

  • Louise

Merry Christmas! I love thread, nothing would be better than a spool of aurifil thread. I love how it goes through my machine!

  • I will be giving Zentangle items in all the stockings I fill this year. I love this artful, easy drawing technique and want to share it with others. And, I love using it to make my marks on fabric before using in art quilts (and a lot of tangles show up in my quilting the guilts, too). I enjoy your blog posts. Thanks!!

P.S. Please excuse the fact that my website is not officially set up yet and only has some gibberish and my contact info. I have been so busy teaching Zentangle introduction classes that I haven’t gotten to this important task yet… :-). If you’d like to learn more about Zentangle, please visit http://www.Zentangle.com

  • Cathy

I do not know how I came across your blog but I love it!!! I look forward to seeing what you have up next everyday. The tutorials are great!!! One of my favorite things in my sewing/quilting box are the needles by Clover–Black Gold Needles, they have applique and quilting needles and have them in different sizes. The point is sooooo sharp they glide through the material so well I love them. (and I love my Roxanne thimble also, Roxanne helped me with the fitting years ago at the Houston Quilt Show)

  • Cathy K

I’ve got some unique hair baretts for my granddaughters that I’m giving. They are made of beautiful beads strung on piano wire, very unique and very pretty!

  • I decorated blank note cards with mini quilt blocks basted to the front for my quilter friends who are in the midst of chemo treatments.

  • LaNan Eldridge

I found silicon wine stoppers..cute and functional

  • THIMBLEPADS!!!
great for pushing that old needle through yet still giving your finger flexibility.

  • Judy Spomer

Thank you for the great tutorials. I can quilt following the lines I mark from stencils, etc., but for true free motion I’m terrible. I feel it is like drawing for which I have no talent even after trying for many years. I feel I can do it the way you show. I would love to have Aurifil thread!

  • Thank you for the great inspiration you post. This year I am getting a small portable Ott light. I can take it when I attend quilter’s getaways, and when I visit in homes that have no quilters. I do lots of machine and hand stitching.

  • Donnis Whaley

I have just recently purchased a Sweet 16 so these tutorials are really helpful Thank you.

  • Donna W

Thank you for the wonderful tutorials that you give each week. I look forward to them. They are great ideas for practice and then put in a quilt. My stocking stuffer will be Aurifil thread. My quilting buddies and I love it!

  • Hi Lori, was using my iron yesterday, usually use everyday, and noticed it was leaking water at the handle, little large for my stocking, but that is what I could use. Could use info on best iron to purchase, any suggestions will be appreciated! Awesome book choices!!!

    • I have a whole shelf of leaky old irons…have to iron every day…uniform shirts for hubby. Tried the Oliso just a few months ago..the yellow one… finally a decent iron!..absolutely love love it!!! Saw Jenny Doan from MSQC using one …soo many reasons I love this for my chores and my playtime with the quilting too. check it out!

      • Ness, thank you for that suggestion, it is definitely one I am looking at. Good to hear how much you like it.

  • Sandy Pigford

I would leave a subscription to “Machine Quilting” magazine, Superior Bottom Line and Masterpiece threads, a pair of Karen Kay Buckley sisscors any size (used for applique’) and a copy of Nancy Turner’s books starting with “These is my Words”. Hope all have a Blessed and Merry Christmas.

    Sandy Pigford

  • I have both of these books and enjoyed them immensely so please don’t put me in the draw – what a generous offer of Marie’s. Anything in my quilter’s stocking owould go down well but at the moment probably a roll of wool:poly batting would be a great idea – I have many flimsies that need quilting! (hehe- big stocking needed for that one!)

  • Pat (Sparky's Mom)

Well, as a quilter, I always love thread. However, for cooks, I think a wonderful stocking stuffer is a ceramic ginger grater. One was given to me a couple of years ago and I love it!! You can see them here:http://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/ceramic-ginger-grater/

  • Everyone has checked off all the items on my list.. Best Press, the rotary blade sharpener, sketchbook, Aurifil thread, and YLS gift certificates. I also love Wonderfil’s variegated threads–50 wt. double-gassed, and Thread Heaven for hand stitching, appliqué, hand binding. I’ve also heard about “Flatten” spray starch by the company that makes Soak. Anyone tried it?

  • Jessie Gaskin

Thinking of my wish list…….I’d love to have Aurafil thread in all the basic color and BestPress by Mary Ellen. Love your tutorials, they are so inspiring.

  • I love your tutorials and read each and every one. I have practiced and used so much from you. I would love to have a book with all your designs in it.

  • Patti Ingram

I plan on putting bowl “potholders” in my children stocking done in their favorite team.

  • I love Best Press and have it on my list to get another gallon. I bought a gallon last January and it has lasted all this time and I use it almost daily. I just filled my smaller bottle with the last of it.

  • Paula

Fat quarters to use for my teen sewing camp at church. The teens make quilts for poor children …double whammy. they learn to sew and quilt and a child gets a quilt who needs one.

  • Since I’m visiting your blog I’m better in quilting as there are so many tips ! It is easy to follow and practise the different exercises ! Thanks you for sharing all this! i’m living in the east of France, I have no quilting shops in the area , it is difficult when you need threads and advices, of course, I can order on the web but it is so better to talk with someone who knows what about … I’m using sulky threads and aurifil threads, for the batting, it is really a problem to buy the good one here too…but I will end on a positive note : I olove reading books in english and the last ones I read were thes from a serie called in the trail of thread series: historical letters…so moving ..

  • I ran across the old ‘DeFuzzIt’ type knit shaver that removes pill-balls from knit clothing for $.99 at Tuesday Morning and am putting them in my daughter and daughter-in-law’s (one) stocking. I still use mine from time-to-time when I find a sweater I love that pills a bit!

  • Dorothy Matheson

For my Mother a pair of scissors always makes her happy. To that I would also add a seam ripper as she likes them too.

  • your little quilted Christmas motifs are wonderful especially love the snowflake I’ll have to try that. It’s -9 in SD at the moment.

  • Vicki Knepp

Gift certificate to favorite LQS. Then I can get batting and fabric and cutters sand embellishments and . . .

  • Let’s see…….. In stockings we can put thread, yarn, ribbons, needles, thimbles and thimble holders, may king pencils, pin cushions, chocolate, beads, textile paints, brushes, machingers, scissors, jewelry. The bigger the stocking, the more fun.
I’m sure we can go on and on with ideas.
    Have a jolly weekend.

  • My favorite find for this year is the Seam-Fix seam ripper with the rubberized lid. The rubberized tip grabs all of those stray threads created when ripping out a seam and works like a charm!!

  • Linda

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

I look forward to your emails and tutorials. They are wonderful.
I have a question, does anyone know about the rotary blade sharpener that most approx $65.00. Does it work?
    thank you

  • Marjorie

enjoy M Bostkwick books and really like all the great info in your blok! Thanks!

  • A big sketch book to keep track of the free motion quilt designs and mapping the steps, so I can get proficient in the technique.

  • Roxanna

I pre-purchase Marie’s books! I love her style and have shared them with friends.
I would enjoy receiving your first book on teaching novices like me how to free motion quilt with confidence!!

    • Ann P

Lori – I love your tutorials and following your blog. How do you write such beautiful lettering when you quilt. Wish I could do that. Thank you for the opportunity to win a giveaway. Happy Holidays to you and your family.

  • Warm cozy socks!!! Nothing like a comfortable pair of socks to keep the feet warm while free motion quilting!!! 🙂

  • We enjoy finding little challenge games to put in stockings

  • Helen Stewart

I would love spools of aurifil thread or a gift certificate for quilting supplies. I would also like to win the book.

    • I just recently found your blog & have many of your designs I want to learn. Thank you for your generosity in sharing them
